In mammals, core genes (CLOCK, BMAL1, PER, and CRY) orchestrate these rhythms through transcriptional–translational feedback loops, influencing various physiological functions, including bone remodeling. Such light-driven circadian rhythms are centrally controlled by suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), which receives information from short-wavelength-sensitive intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells.
