Purpose This paper aims to improve the diversity and richness of haptic perception by recognizing multi-modal images. Design/methodology/approach First, data collected BioTac sensors from different objects are pre-processed, then combined into Second, a multi-class multi-label deep learning model is designed, which can simultaneously learn four features (hardness, thermal conductivity, roughness texture) images, recognize based on these features. The images with dimensions modalities provided for testing recognition performance this model. Findings results imply that fusion has better than single-modal tactile understanding, larger dimension conducive more accurate measurement. Practical implications proposed method important potential application in unknown environment perception, dexterous grasping manipulation other intelligent robotics domains. The market for interactive platforms is rapidly growing, and touchscreens have been incorporated in an increasing number of devices. Thus, the area smart objects devices strongly by adding touch multimedia content, leading to new uses capabilities. In this work, a flexible screen printed sensor matrix fabricated based on silver ink polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate. Diamond shaped capacitive electrodes coupled with conventional reading electronics enables fabrication highly functional touchpad, also allows identification marked objects. For latter, signatures are identified intersecting points distances between them. work demonstrates applicability low cost method using royalty-free geometries technologies development multitouch touchpads implementation object recognition applications.

Conveying image information to the blind or visually impaired (BVI) is an important means improve their quality of life. The touch screen devices used daily are potential carriers for BVI perceive through touch. However, also have disadvantages limited computing power and lack rich tactile experience. In order help access images conveniently screen, we built contour display system based on vibrotactile feedback. this paper, smoothing algorithm convolutional neural network that can run quickly device first preprocess effect extraction. Then, haptic physiological characteristics human beings, paper proposes a method using improved MH-Pen guide screen. This introduces extraction expression methods contours in detail, compares analyzes effects subjects' perception two modes types user experiments. experimental results show useful necessary obtain main ensure real-time contour, motion direction guidance helps subjects recognize more effectively.

With the wide application of touch screen technology in daily life, more and studies have tried to use as a carrier convey surface shape features virtual objects people. Current proposed methods such direct height mapping haptic illusion based on lateral force display geometric surfaces screen. However, whether there are differences performance these displaying features, force-based can be used complex surfaces, has not been fully explored. Aiming at this situation, article, we carry out user experiments two regular shapes eight natural images under displacement field types fields with help three devices previously designed. We also evaluate effect image smoothing users' perception features. Experimental results show that current simulate by (Minsky et al., 1990) cannot achieve shapes, is worst when only resistive feedback employed. Nevertheless, since field, electrovibration, allow people directly perceive their bare fingers, continuous research expression method still very attractive prospect.

In order to enhance the sense of reality haptic display based on image, it is widely expected express various characteristics objects in image using different kinds feedback. To this end, a multi-mode method was proposed paper, including multi-feature extraction and expression with types rendering. First, device structure integrating force vibrotactile feedbacks designed for display. Meanwhile, three-dimensional geometric shape, detail texture outline object were extracted by processing algorithms. Then, rendering psychophysical experiments piezoelectric ceramic actuator. The 3D rendered vibration tactile feedbacks, respectively. Finally, these three features expressed simultaneously integrated device. Haptic perception experiment results show that can effectively improve authenticity perception.

Based on the study of relevant characteristics piezoelectric ceramics, transducers are characterized by fast response and high sensitivity. Meanwhile, parameters ceramics sensitive to temperature changes. Hence, a sensor is designed in this paper. The paper firstly analyzes trend resonant frequency element varying with external ambient pressure changes applied through multi-physical field coupling simulation. simulation results determine influence sensor. Secondly, relationships between temperature, verified series experiments. Experimental show that has no effect certain interval. Therefore, realizes can withstand action pressure.
