Social media platforms facilitate the sharing of a vast magnitude information in split seconds among users. However, some false information, generally referred to as “fake news”, is also widely spread. This can have major negative impacts on individuals and societies. Unfortunately, people are often not able correctly identify fake news from authentic news. Therefore, there an urgent need find effective mechanisms fight social media. To this end, paper adapts Straub Model Security Action Cycle context combating It uses adapted framework classify literature into action cycle phases (i.e., deterrence, prevention, detection, mitigation/remedy). Based systematic inter-disciplinary review relevant literature, we analyze status challenges each stage news, followed by introducing future research directions. These efforts allow development holistic view frontier fighting online. We conclude that multidisciplinary issue, such, collaborative effort different fields needed effectively address problem.

Objetivo. Describir el comportamiento de la diseminación noticias falsas en contexto mortalidad por COVID-19 y manejo infodemia seis países latinoamericanos. Métodos. Estudio ecológico descriptivo que explora porcentaje población con incapacidad para reconocer las falsas, confianza contenido redes sociales su uso como única fuente Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, México Perú hasta 29 noviembre del 2020. Se calculó índice penetración Internet cada país, tasa Facebook COVID-19. La información sobre medidas implementadas se obtuvo mediante búsquedas bibliográficas portales gubernamentales los seleccionados, según cinco áreas acción propuestas Organización Mundial Salud: identificación evidencia, trasmisión ciencia conocimiento, acciones amplificadas, cuantificación impacto, coordinación gobernanza. Resultados. Chile Argentina fueron mayores índices (92,4% 92,0%, respectivamente) también están entre mayor hacen único medio obtención (32,0% 28,0%, respectivamente); Brasil Colombia mostraron un intermedio ambos indicadores. tiene más alto sociales, mientras presentaron valores falsas. Digital media and citizen journalism has escalated the infiltration of fake news attempting to create a post truth society (Lazer et al., 2018). The COVID-19 pandemic seen surge misinformation leading anti-mask, anti-vaccine anti-5G protests on global scale. Although term ‘misinformation’ been generalized in scholarly work, there is fundamental difference between how impacts society, compared more strategically planned disinformation attacks. In this study we explore ideological constructs citizens towards acceptance or rejection during heightened time health crisis. Our analysis follows two specific propagandas evaluated through social network Twitter data addition qualitative insights generated from tweets in-depth interviews.

This study is one of the few studies that aimed to examine, first, effect social media usage for news consumption on users' cognitive notions in terms focal and affiliate trust, second, news-finds-me perception (NFMP), fake news' deception detection self-efficacy (DDSE) credibility, brand (dis)trust, consumers' propensity believe act news.
