The purpose of this study was to compare the biological effects as antimicrobial and antitumor activity bioactive ingredients two plants Iphonia mucronata Conyza dioscorides which belong Asteraceae family. I. EtOAc extract exhibited promising against HELA (cervical), PC-3 (prostate), HEP-2 (larynx) carcinoma cell lines with IC50 values 24.60, 26.57 39.06 μg/ml, respectively. While C. showed weak moderate same lines. MeOH extracts activity, also antibacterial Proteus vulgaris, Bacillus subtilis Escherichia coli, total active constituents both revealed higher concentrations than all components except alkaloid content. phenolic, flavonoid, were in while saponins content whereas tannins similar for plants. major phenolic acids flavonoid compounds investigated using HPLC caffeic, ferulic acid, naringin, luteolin mucronata.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of selected compounds from group triterpene sapogenins on model phosphatidylcholine membranes. Two types biological membrane systems were used in work, i.e., liposomes (microelectrophoresis method) and spherical bilayers (interfacial tension method). Each was modified with tested sapogenin compounds, change their physicochemical electrical parameters analyzed. Parameters characterizing equilibrium 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC)-oleanolic acid (OA) DPPC-asiatic (AA) determined). Based Young-Laplace equation, interfacial tensions lipid measured. The formation 1:1 complexes assumed DPPC-OA DPPC-AA systems, interactions formed calculated. Microelectrophoresis surface charge density These values obtained electrophoretic mobility data using Smoluchowsky's equation. influence pH electrolyte solution composition membranes investigated. results indicate that modifying DPPC sapogenins, both OA AA, causes changes shifts isoelectric point. Data presented this through mathematical derivation confirmed experimentally, are great importance for interpreting phenomena occurring A quantitative description equilibria between lets us understand processes surface. particularly significant standpoint cell functioning. Phosphatidylcholine-sapogenin modulate a range properties membranes, they important course multiple involving living (e.g., transport mechanism).
