Aquaponic systems are food production that combine aquaculture and hydroponic in a closed recirculation system where water provides nutrients to plants while purify for fish. In this system, tilapia is the most commonly cultured fish can be easily integrated with vegetable cultivation. However, host diverse microbiota some of which pathogenic infect humans. Previous studies have reported contamination lettuce by bacteria cause human diseases. Thus, there an urgent need employ effective methods control those bacteria, Bacillus strains been successfully used context. This systematic review aimed provide comprehensive overview use as probiotics prevent diseases aquaponics systems. was performed using Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Review Meta-Analysis Statement (PRISMA) Guidelines. A total 1,239 articles were retrieved based on eligibility criteria, six included after screening. The revealed Enterobacteriaceae, Coliforms, Shiga Toxin-producing E. coli predominant contaminating leaves systems, Toxin-Producing internalize leaves, putting public health at risk. did not report presence V. cholerae grown aquaponic Escherichia Vibrio Cholerae. Further research needed explore potential act source contaminate lettuce, well investigate effectiveness these ensure safety.
