This article presents the potential application of paper/wood industry waste by-products, i.e. lignosulphonate (LS) in conjunction with lime (LM) [i.e. LS-based cementing admixture (LSCA)] to mitigate desiccation induced cracking and mechanical vulnerabilities expansive soil subgrade. The results showed that LSCA significantly ameliorated consistency, subgrade strength characteristics (i.e. California bearing ratio resilient modulus), completely mitigated swelling enhanced resistance against Sr. Moreover, LM notably reduced 3D-volumetric shrinkage crack intensity factor (CIF) by 90.1 87.4%, respectively. mineralogical microstructural analyses manifested new cementitious compounds hydrates calcium silicate aluminate), substantially interlocking among particles compared untreated LS-treated soils. Besides, pavement thickness treated subgrade, omits provision sand cushion sub-base course promoting road material conservation.

After more than two years wearing surgical masks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, used have become a significant risk for ecosystems, as they are producing wastes in huge amounts. They potential source of disturbance by themselves and microplastic contamination water system. As 5500 tons face estimated be each year, there is an urgent need manage them according circular economy principles avoid their inadequate disposal. In this paper, wear (WM), without any further pretreatment, been introduced addition mortars up 5% weight cement. Mechanical microstructural characterization carried out. The results indicate that adding MW cement supposes decrease properties material, concerning both strength durability behavior. However, even WM cement, aspect quite good, flexural not significantly affected, parameters maintained at levels that-even lower reference-are reasonable use. Provided worldwide production around 4.1 Bt/year, introduction less 1% produced, would make it possible get rid mask waste being produced.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has a rapidly spreading pandemic and is severely threatening public health globally. The human-to-human transmission route of SARS-CoV-2 now well established. reported clinical observations symptoms this infection in humans appear range between being asymptomatic pneumonia. virus can be transmitted through aerosols droplets that are released into air carrier, especially when person coughs, sneezes, or talks forcefully closed environment. As progresses, use handling contaminated personal protective equipment facemasks have become major issues with significant environmental risks. Therefore, providing an effective method for treating used/contaminated crucial. In paper, we review challenges risks associated surge facemask production. We also discuss their materials as sources microplastics how disposal procedures potentially lead to contamination water resources. herein potential developing nanomaterial-based antiviral self-cleaning facemasks. This discusses these concludes sustainable alternative promising viable solution. context, it essential address emerging new class against virus, while biodegradable sustainable. paper represents potentials natural and/or polymers manufacturing facemasks, such wood-based polymers, chitosan, other synthetic achieving sustainability goals during after pandemics.

This study compares the efficacy of geopolymerized bagasse ash (GB) and quarry dust (GQ) with traditional flay ash-based geopolymer considering strength properties a subgrade. Geopolymerized composited binary admixture (GBA) was constituted by incorporating optimum percentages GQ GB, on basis maximum reduction 70% 52% in plasticity index value respectively. Then samples for tests such as unconfined compression California bearing ratio were remolded using standard modified compaction parameters. Also, mineralogical microstructural analyses conducted based SEM EDS. The influence curing percentage geopolymers also investigated properties. performance GBA is equivalent to fly-ash-based (GF) like qu CBR ensuring more than 200% increase at 20% 15% content However, these contents, ductility GBA-treated 107% higher GF making this suitable under dynamic load. Formation gel ((N, C)-A-S-H) confirmed elemental but microstructure treated sample porous sample, which provides some advantage particles reorientation load before failure. proposed multi-waste has significant implications waste management, its implementation construction two-lane subgrade covering distance 1 kilometer may enable repurposing 1313 tons assorted solid waste.
