The present study was conducted to determine the pre harvest interval of chlorpyrifos and quinalphos in hyacinth bean agro-climatic condition Bangladesh ensure safe food for consumers. A supervised field trial undertaken experimental Entomology Division BARI, Gazipur selected pesticides (chlorpyrifos quinalphos) were sprayed with recommended dose (1.5 ml/L water). samples collected at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 12 days after spray (DAS). extracted cleaned up using modified Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged Safe (QuEChERS) extraction technique residues determined by Gas Chromatography (GC) coupled Flame Thermionic Detector (FTD). residue detected upto 8 DAS (0.027 mg/Kg) a level above EU-MRL, 9 DAS, no detected. The farmers of our country mostly depend on chemical pesticides for crop protection due to the scarcity competent pesticide alternatives and enough knowledge safe pest management. As a result, there is great possibility remain residues in harvested crops. Keeping this view, study was conducted analyze organophosphorus yard long bean collected from five local markets Mymensingh district Bangladesh. samples were carried Pesticide Analytical Laboratory, Entomology Division Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur same sampling day. analyzed using Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged Safe (QuEChERS) extraction technique Gas Chromatography (GC) coupled with Flame Thermionic Detector (FTD). Among 30 bean, 3 (10% total samples) contained residue quinalphos, which 2 quinalphos above MRL. This reflects overall scenario city. Therefore, monitoring vegetables should be strengthened. Pesticide residues in different crops, including food grains and vegetables are burning issues Bangladesh.
