Sleep disorder is an important risk factor for postpartum depression. Although previous research has explored brain activity in depression, it not fully revealed how insomnia affect mood by altering interactions between regions. This study aim to investigate the relationship and depressive status women, utilizing functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) explore network topological properties. Among 143 40 were diagnosed with 103 without. The results indicated that Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) scores significantly higher group compared control group. Compared group, showed increased connection strength of triangularis Broca's middle superior temporal gyrus left right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex ( p < 0.001). Brain analysis small-world properties, clustering coefficient = 0.009), local efficiency 0.009) lower Notably, pole reduced negatively correlated EPDS scores. These findings elucidate may exacerbate depression through changes While observed alterations connectivity suggest a correlation, causation cannot be definitively established. Improving sleep quality remains promising intervention, but further needed clarify causal links therapeutic targets.
