Abstract Bayberry ( Myrica rubra Sieb. et Zucc.) kernel is a by‐products of bayberry processing and are rich in oil. This study investigates the effects different methods on oil (BKO) yield, including cold pressing (CP), direct solvent n ‐hexane) extraction, ultrasound‐assisted ‐hexane extraction (UAE), steam explosion pretreatment to assist aqueous enzyme supercritical fluid (SFE). The acid value, peroxide fatty composition, bioactive components content, antioxidant activity extracted BKO with six were compared. results showed that yield by was between 30.95% 49.49%, UAE highest. samples had lower value (0.39–0.59 mg KOH/g) (3.97–5.84 meq O 2 /kg), unsaturated acids (>85%), mainly oleic (46.9%–47.9%) linoleics (37.0%–39.5%). Chinese bayberry ( Myrica rubra Sieb. et Zucc.) is highly susceptible to decay during storage, resulting in a very short shelf life. This study aimed at developing new technique for extending its life through aqueous ozone (AO) spraying. To compare the deterioration process, bayberries were treated with different AO concentrations (T1, T2, and T3 6.25, 1.25, 0.25 mg/L, respectively) control treatments (CK1: no treatment, CK2: ultrapure water spraying, CKa: sealed 0.4‐ μ m polyethylene film) under storage conditions of 3 ° C ± 0.5 25 days. Key fruit quality parameters microbial infection rates assessed throughout period. Results indicated that treatment (0.25 mg/L) extended period by least 10 days compared groups; reduced rate factor four; effectively inhibited growth moulds yeasts; delayed decline ascorbic acid content, soluble solid hardness. In contrast, T1 (6.25 caused softening dehydration skin due high concentration. conclusion, an appropriate concentration can be effective method prolonging postharvest fruits.

Ethylene is an essential indicator of fruit ripening and climacteric or non-climacteric nature. This study investigated the postharvest behavior five Chinese bayberry cultivars ‘Biqi’, ‘Dongkui’, ‘Fenhong’, ‘Xiazhihong’, ‘Shuijing’. The fruits were harvested mature stored at room temperature (25 °C) under cold storage conditions (4 to investigate dynamics ethylene production, firmness, anthocyanin content, cell wall polysaccharide composition, as well basic physicochemical characteristics. results show that a with production peaking shortly after harvest, especially temperature. Fruit color intensified over time due accumulation, particularly in flesh core. Darker produced more ethylene, which correlated higher levels. At temperature, ‘Biqi’ (black) had highest (4.03 µL·kg−1·h−1) content (0.91 mg/g FW), while ‘Shuijing’, white cultivar, lowest levels (1.9 (0.03 FW). Firmness significantly decreased degradation hemicellulose insoluble pectin, whereas mitigates this effect. After 3 days average firmness by 23.7% cultivars, compared 12.7% storage. Total soluble solids increase during storage, enhancing sweetness, increasing from 9.2 10.9% 4 °C. Titratable acidity slightly time: value for 1.2% 0.95% 1.1% Citric, malic, tartaric acid generally declined but stabilized Sucrose, fructose, glucose increased remained stable, significant varietal differences. Our indicate storing °C effectively preserves its quality extends life. These findings underscore ethylene’s key role regulating ripening, quality, shelf life influencing color, overall consumer appeal.
