Simaroubaceae is a monophyletic family of Sapindales, with pantropical distribution.Although presenting only 23 genera and about 117 species, their representatives present wide diversity in morphological characters, which has led to variety controversies over its classification since the 19 th century.To date, information on limited, low representativity several herbarium collections clear lack fundamental data morphology anatomy.Sapindales an order composed by nine families, Rutaceae Meliaceae being closest groups Simaroubaceae.Variations related characters such as sexuality, degrees fusion or conation between floral organs, among others, are common themes research more in-depth structural studies order.In this context, patterns already evidenced last decade have contributed improve available descriptions representatives, very relevant for understanding evolution diversification Sapindales lineages.In thesis we firstly investigation reproductive features from perspective, combining original study well literature, attempt elucidate informative systematics evolutionary history group.Finally, detailed structure (morphology, anatomy histology) family, focus androecium nectariferous structures.In novel were found group, variations stalk-like elongations axis associated nectary newly described.We provide descriptions, illustrations, diagrams described structures, elucidating updating knowledge these flowers, discussing putative role biology group.
