Abstract Sericin, a protein extracted from the cocoons of silkworms, has recently become an attractive biomaterial due to its potential as good candidate for wound healing especially wounds seen in diabetic and immune-compromised patients. This review discusses special biological nature sericin such water-solubility inherent moisturizing properties, antimicrobial, antioxidant activities, which can act synergistically foster ideal conditions healing. The incorporation into composite dressings along with other natural synthetic polymers was found improve mechanical biocompatibility, overall therapeutic performance. Moreover, draws attention toward sericin-based materials focus on promoting rapid tissue regeneration cell proliferation enhancing clinical outcomes that conventional therapeutics cannot serve. also challenges associated production application outlines prospects this emerging field. As research continues advance, silk holds revolutionize care, offering innovative solutions effective holistic management complex wounds.
