Hunger (811 million people, 2020) and food waste (931 tonnes annually, are long-standing interconnected challenges that have plagued humankind for centuries. Food originates from various sources, including consumption habits failures within the supply chain. Given growing concerns regarding insecurity, malnutrition, hunger, there is a pressing need to recover repurpose as much possible. A body of knowledge identifies valorisation (including upcycling) one strategies fight hunger by positively impacting availability security. This study reviews the sources and factors impacting soil quality in Ghana associated health environmental implications. After sourcing 386 materials from different search engines, these were subjected to content evaluation novelty/concept analysis with a score of 100% 146 retained for this study. From review, agricultural, mining, urban, industrial activities, poor waste disposal, vehicular road traffic main sources/factors influencing levels/distributions contaminates Ghana's pedological system. Pesticides including chlorpyrifos, β-hexachlorocyclohexane, p,p'-dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, p,p'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene, hexachlorobenzene heptachlor have also been identified elevated levels.
