Under the background of global climate warming, meteorological drought disasters have become increasingly frequent. Different vegetation types exhibit varying responses to drought, thus, exploring heterogeneity impact on is particularly important. In this study, we focused Inner Mongolia (IM) as research area and employed Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) Vegetation Health (VHI) indices, respectively. The Breaks for Additive Seasons Trend algorithm (BFAST) was utilized reveal dynamic characteristics both changes. Additionally, Pixel-Based Identification Method (PTIM) identify trends during spring, summer, autumn, growing season. Subsequently, analyzed correlation between growth. Finally, response growth various factors explored using standardized multivariate linear regression method. results indicated that: (1) During study period, SPEI VHI exhibited a type interrupted decrease. aggravated decreased. (2) Deserts grasslands higher sensitivity compared forests. strongest SPEI-3 observed in desert grassland regions. forest areas, found SPEI-6 VHI. (3) r severity status 0.898 (p < 0.01). exhibits more pronounced short-term events. (4) primary climatic driving factor IM. findings provide valuable insights rational utilization water resources, formulation effective irrigation replenishment policies, mitigation adverse impacts

Logged tropical forests can retain a great deal of biodiversity, but there is substantial variation in the type and severity habitat degradation caused by logging. Logging-induced vary significantly at fine spatial scales, with differing effects on plant communities growth lianas, which are woody, climbing vines that proliferate degraded infest trees onto them competing for above below ground resources. The impacts such fine-scale structure faunal diversity relatively poorly known. We recorded soundscapes local-scale selectively logged old-growth primary Malaysian Borneo to examine how changes forest predict acoustic indices known correlate biodiversity indices. show relating higher soundscape increase liana prevalence decline tree species richness unaffected load adult trees. Our results suggest data represent simple, practicable measure detecting patterns response post-logging structure. findings also retaining many lightly infested lianas optimal outcome biodiversity. This emphasises need restoration retains some climbers, rather than blanket-cutting all stems projects seeking return towards their state.

Ecosystem water use efficiency (WUE) is an important measure of the degree water–hydrogen coupling and indicator for assessing ecosystem responses to climate change. Drought adversely affects security, particularly in irrigated agricultural areas; therefore, understanding relationship between WUE drought important. This study revealed spatial temporal characteristics Manas River Basin, Xinjiang, China, from 2001 2020 through multi-source data using standardised anomaly indices mutation detection. It also quantitatively analysed hysteresis effect resilience different vegetation types area. The results showed that droughts at a severe level occurred less frequently most area on average 2020, growing season more frequently, grasslands; frequency woodlands was low. Furthermore, lag 3-month scale accounted 64.0% total watershed Finally, 38.16% regional ecosystems Basin exhibited resistance. In conclusion, our provide novel insights into water-use strategies plants will help facilitate optimisation.

Abstract The currently used standardised precipitation index (SPI) does not allow for a reliable assessment of the impact drought due to small and unevenly distributed network meteorological stations. Hopes developing methods assess droughts are pinned on remote data acquisition use analysis aerial photographs satellite scenes. aim this study is occurrence based normalised difference vegetation (NDVI) SPI at multiple time scales (1-, 3-, 6-, 9- 12-month). NDVI values do simply reflect drought. However, spatial co-occurrence with defined basis was demonstrated. presents new approach identifying characterized by bivariate choropleth map method, which can indicate actual places occurrence. carried out upper Noteć catchment located in Central Poland.
