Objective In this study, we aimed to explore the potential association between COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, severe COVID-19, and erection dysfunction (ED) using two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) method. Methods Data pertaining were extracted from latest version of Host Genetics Initiative genome-wide study (GWAS) meta-analyses (Round 7, April 2022), outcome data obtained Open GWAS database. We applied various MR analysis methods, including inverse variance weighted method, median MR-Egger regression. Results Our investigation revealed a negative causal hospitalization ED (total testosterone levels: beta = −0.026; 95% confidence interval: −0.049 −0.001). However, no evidence supported relationships for or other risk factors. Conclusion The results comprehensive suggest link total levels. Nonetheless, (comprising illness) may not directly correlate with an increased ED. These findings imply that exert distinct impact on through indirect pathways.

Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) and erectile dysfunction (ED) have been linked in some observational research, but the causality of this association European population is uncertain. Therefore, research intended to investigate susceptibility COVID-19 on ED. We used Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis for research. The subjects were from two genome-wide studies (GWAS) population, including (14,134 cases 1,284,876 controls) ED (6175 217,630 controls). utilized inverse variance-weighted (IVW) evaluate genetic Heterogeneity pleiotropy determined using Cochran's Q test MR-Egger regression. robustness findings was verified Leave-one-out method. obtained six single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) as instrumental variables (IVs), there no significant pleiotropy, heterogeneity or bias these IVs. MR revealed elevated risk (ORIVW = 1.235, 95% CI: 1.044-1.462, p < 0.05). present study suggested among population. order decrease risk, ought positively prevent COVID-19.

Sexual health alterations are associated with disasters. Consequently, the COVID-19 pandemic may affect female sexual function. This study aimed to determine effect on function and know risk of dysfunction. online, cross-sectional, observational research was conducted during period. A logistic regression model used investigate associations between outcomes potential factors. In total, 432 sexually active women participating in region affected by were analyzed. The overall findings our that 60 percent females at for average FSFI score 21.27 ± 7.17. Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is a prevalent sexual health condition affecting significant portion of the male population worldwide. The conventional therapeutic approaches for ED often involve use pharmaceutical agents targeting phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) enzyme. Currently, treatment with PDE-5 inhibitors standard approach ED, and four inhibitors, namely sildenafil, vardenafil, tadalafil, avanafil, are in use. However, these interventions may be associated adverse effects limitations. As result, there has been growing interest exploring alternative complementary options such as nutraceuticals, which bioactive compounds derived from natural sources. Nutraceuticals, include vitamins, minerals, herbs, other dietary supplements, have gained popularity their potential benefits. Certain nutraceuticals demonstrated ability to modulate various physiological pathways, including those involved erectile function. A notable mechanism action inhibition PDE5 enzyme, plays pivotal role regulation cGMP levels. By inhibiting PDE5, can promote accumulation cGMP, leading enhanced penile blood flow improved comprehensive analysis literature showcases nutraceutical agents, plant-derived like flavonoids, polyphenols, amino acids exhibited inhibitory effects. Innovative dual targets have also been defined in the literature. Additionally, some of are able to selectively inhibit other enzymes such as histone deacetylase, acetylcholine esterase, cyclooxygenase or act nitric oxide donors. This review presents knowledge concerning advanced trends perspectives using treatment ED conditions.
