Abstract The global concern over water pollution caused by organic pollutants such as methylene blue (MB) and other dyes has reached a critical level. Herein, the Allium cepa L. peel extract was utilized to fabricate copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles. CuO combined with MgAl-layered double hydroxides (MgAl-LDHs) via co-precipitation method varying weight ratios of CuO/LDHs. composite catalysts were characterized tested for degradation MB dye. CuO/MgAl-LDH (1:2) showed highest photocatalytic performance achieved 99.20% degradation. However, only 90.03, 85.30, 71.87, 35.53% dye degraded CuO/MgAl-LDHs (1:1), (2:1), CuO, MgAl-LDHs catalysts, respectively. Furthermore, pseudo-first-order rate constant 0.03141 min −1 while constants 0.0156 0.0052 , results demonstrated that exhibited an improved catalytic than pristine MgAl-LDHs. higher performances may be due uniform distribution nanoparticles into LDH matrix, surface area, lower electron hole recombination rates. Therefore, catalyst can one candidates used in environmental remediation.

Hexavalent chromium is classified as a human carcinogen and its removal crucial from wastewater. A comparative study was done to remove Cr (VI) an aqueous solution by synthesized nanoparticles such chitin, chitosan, zinc oxide (at various temperatures 500 °C, 600 °C 700 °C), ZnO-chitosan composite. Among all the materials maximum uptake of observed in nano-biocomposite (ZnO-CS NC). The adsorption variables like initial concentration, adsorbent dosage, time, pH were examined. batch studies revealed best result 20 ppm concentration dosage 0.5 g/l, 3 at 60 min. characterization nanocomposite Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) techniques Langmuir isotherm models fitted due highest R2 value. adsorbent, for removal. capacity efficiency 69.5 mg/g 96.5% respectively. ZnO showed potential antibacterial activity. Electrostatic attraction between biocomposite main cause it could be promising material sustainable treatment
