Abstract Objective: To investigate food insecurity and related coping strategies, their associations with the risk of anxiety depression, among South African households children. Design: Nationally representative cross-sectional study. Tools for assessing insecurity, depression were assessed from Community Childhood Hunger Identification Project, Coping Strategies Index, Generalised Anxiety Disorder-7 Patient Health Questionnaire-9, respectively. We used ordered logistic regression to test strategies depression. Moderating effects each strategy tested in Setting: Africa, post COVID-19 restrictions, May–June 2022. Abstract Countries which imposed strict containment measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic are thought have faced particular socio-economic challenges. This study assesses implications of disruptions on local agri-food value chain actors Kenya and Uganda, as both countries enacted lockdowns limit spread virus. The COVID-19 pandemic had global reach and widespread effect, particularly concerning food security. As supply chains become disrupted, producers struggle to access markets. Thus, there is a need examine the factors affecting security of agri-food system actors, smallholder farmers in Philippines. Utilizing eight-question survey module FAO's Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES) questions regarding their socio-demographic profile, 215 actors including farmers, processors, logistic providers, traders were surveyed from February May 2021. An ordered probit regression was used determine severity insecurity actors. Smallholder larger households, Indigenous Peoples' groups experience an increase insecurity. Conversely, determinants reduced include other reporting profitability during lockdown period, older age, being married, having more employed household members, savings. Results reflect among severely impacted sectors pandemic. findings shed light on several resilience post-pandemic implications sustainable development, such as designing resilient systems by securing farmers' inputs markets improving profitability. Furthermore, transform current into inclusive targeting younger groups, poor limited means financial capital improve rural communities. This study first empirical evidence documenting extent extreme shocks.

Abstract Operation of short food supply chains (abbr. SFSCs) during the period pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus provided a lesson which might be useful for perceiving behaviour farmers and local systems in potential future crises various endogenous or exogenous factors. A study based on sample 1081 beekeepers Western Balkan countries shows how involved SFSCs perceived influence growth demand sale honey through these marketing channels. On scale from 1 (no influence) to 7 (very strong influence), average rating 3.53 indicated weak moderate influence, was fairly consistent across this region. The Kruskal-Wallis test Mann-Whitney determined that large-scale beekeepers, those mountainous areas, adding value producing other bee products apart stated had stronger SFSCs.
