Mobile zoos are events in which non-domesticated (exotic) and domesticated species transported to venues such as schools, hospitals, parties, community centres, for the purposes of education, entertainment, or social therapeutic assistance. We conducted literature searches surveyed related government agencies regarding existing provisions within laws policies, number mobile zoos, formal guidance issued concerning operation 74 countries regions. also examined governmental non-governmental standards well websites zoo operations, assessed promotional educational materials scientific accuracy, recorded diversity use. used EMODE (Easy, Moderate, Difficult, Extreme) algorithm, evaluate identified associated with their suitability keeping. 14 areas concern animal biology public health safety, 8 false misleading content materials. at least 341 zoos. largely unregulated, unmonitored, uncontrolled, appear be increasing. Issues poor welfare, education raise several serious concerns. Using precautionary principle when empirical evidence was not available, we advise that exotic should similar itinerant events.

It is important to understand the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on animal caregivers and their companion animals in order inform responses future crises. Prior research inconsistent, with benefits companionship believed be overstated. In this scoping review, we searched four electronic databases hand-searched reference lists included studies. Over 4000 citations were found, 122 review. Reflecting pre-COVID literature, quantitative evidence association between psychological well-being during was mixed, numerous positive, negative, null findings reported. Studies highlighted pandemic, reported provide a routine, sense greater purpose, positive distraction from COVID-19, companionship, emotional support. However, participants also concerns about meeting animals' needs, fears catching or spreading virus, financial worries. Concerns what would happen if hospitalized led some delay testing treatment. Animals experienced (such as increased calmer mood) negative impacts clinginess separation anxiety). Companion should key consideration emergency preparedness plans.

People working in the field of Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAI) often state that they perceive animal welfare as a matter paramount importance, nevertheless most scientific literature focuses on effectiveness interventions from user's perspective. Before focusing animals’ management and during interaction with users, it would be important to ensure their “ordinary lives”. This article reports information considerations about donkeys involved AAI Northern Italy. Six facilities several years experience Donkey-Assisted were visited for purpose an initial data collection regarding AAI. A general lack knowledge nutritional needs donkey heterogeneity practices its preventive medicine have been identified; study also highlighted need efforts create more stimulating enriched environment animals Some possible areas improvement highlighted. Further studies are necessary provide comprehensive picture this context.

The role of non-human animals in the food system is more fiercely contested now than ever before. Deep chasms exist between different actors’ visions future and their acceptance present. What some view as moral outrages, others see valued traditions, wellsprings pride identity, honed crafts, sources indispensable nutrients, so much more; intersections with other issues (environmental harms, rural economies, development poverty) add still further tension. It a difficult knot to untangle. Reflecting contributing these radical differences positions, stakeholders debates work within varied frameworks. For philosophers animal ethics, are fundamentally questions that must be answered by direct engagement our value systems. welfare scientists, we can move forward deepening empirically-based understanding animals’ lives. farmers, fishers, practically engaged producing foods, too little attention paid authority gained from daily working alongside intuitively what not good practice. In this explainer, explore paradigms arguments surrounding ethics welfare. We investigate how why disciplines frame debate differently, range whether any areas agreement might signal pathways progress.

In the UK, March 2020 was a time of great uncertainty as COVID-19 became increasingly widespread. The government responded by making suggestions about how people could reduce risk spread on 16 March, moved swiftly into closing schools 18 before announcing mandatory lockdown 23rd March. This challenging for UK equestrians who had to balance maintaining their equine's routine and daily care alongside increasing biosecurity measures. A cross-sectional survey distributed via social media over two days (28 29 2020) better understand decisions made horse, pony donkey owners during this time. Data from 452 respondents were generated across all four countries comprising although there no significant differences in owner response pandemic between locations. changes differed 16th 18th 2020, with an early emphasis improving yard opting stop riding, well reducing spent at yard. Introduction The recent COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the crucial role of “One Health” (OH) concept in prevention, early detection, and mitigation health issues involving humans, animals, environment. Recognizing intrinsic interdependence among human health, animal environmental well-being is crucial, demanding heightened emphasis. Many challenges stem from situations that compromise welfare (AW), well-being, sustainability, vice versa. significance AW across its five domains essential for preventing future pandemics advancing global objectives such as food security, reduction suffering, biodiversity conservation, enhanced productivity agricultural-livestock sector.
