In recent years, the relationship between Lycium ruthenicum Murr. anthocyanins (LRA) and health has attracted increasing attention. The purpose of this study is to investigate anti-aging effect mechanism LRA through a D-galactose (DG)-induced aging rat model. Our results showed that long-term intake LRA, for 8 weeks, improved motor function, reduced serum markers, promoted endogenous antioxidant system, suppressed inflammatory cytokines in rats. Besides, treatment alleviated DG-induced liver injuries by relieving inflammation inhibiting Fas/FasL-mediated cell death. More importantly, abnormal metabolome profiles rats were restored relating 38 metabolites 44 pathways. Specifically, significantly affected amino acid protein-related metabolic pathways regulating levels L-threonine, L-aspartic acid, glycine, L-histidine, D-homocysteine, L-homocitrulline, L-homoserine, guanidineacetic kynurenine. These have important implications development as an liver-protective ingredient.
