Cardiomyocyte dysfunction and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) can be classified as ischemic or non-ischemic. We consider the induction of cardiac tissue by intracellular advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) in cardiomyocytes a novel type non-ischemic CVD. Various types AGEs generated from saccharides (glucose fructose) their intermediate/non-enzymatic reaction byproducts. Recently, certain (

Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a specific type of that independent hypertension and coronary artery disease, closely associated with the high incidence mortality heart failure in people diabetes. DCM causes microvascular myocardial metabolic disorder, fibrosis, thereby leading to left ventricular remodeling, diastolic and/or systolic dysfunction, eventually progressing congestive failure. Recent studies have highlighted crucial roles mitochondrial dysfunction pathogenesis DCM, including aspects such as glucose-lipid oxidative stress damage, calcium regulation respiratory chain uncoupling, kinetic imbalance, DNA damage. Increasing numbers targets drugs are being identified ameliorate consequently slow progression. This article reviews newly past decade, provide new insights for prevention treatment.
