Abstract Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by a variety of fungal and mold species. One the mycotoxin families that is often regarded as most concerned one in human animal feeds, aflatoxin. Aflatoxins Aspergillus species very toxic cause significant contamination food supplies, resulting serious health repercussions including carcinogenicity. To date, several regulations on aflatoxin permissible level limits have been established number nations. Based government guidelines restrictions, consumers producers anticipate should not negatively impact health. Aflatoxin commodities poses consequential risk to humans also associated with substantial financial losses. Conventional reduction strategies involve both preventative decontamination approaches. The present review gives an update recent research conventional approaches, pre‐ post‐harvest procedures could potentially be used decontaminate Additionally, current study delves into source contamination, global occurrence, health, management assure security safety.

Filamentous fungi exhibit remarkable adaptability to diverse substrates and can synthesize a plethora of secondary metabolites. These metabolites, produced in response environmental stimuli, not only confer selective advantages but also encompass potentially deleterious mycotoxins. Mycotoxins, exemplified by those originating from Alternaria, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium species, represent challenging hazards both human animal health, thus warranting stringent regulatory control. Despite frameworks, mycotoxin contamination remains pressing global challenge, particularly within cereal-based matrices their derived by-products, integral components diets. Strategies aimed at mitigating multifaceted approaches, including biological control modalities, detoxification procedures, innovative interventions like essential oils. However, hurdles persist, underscoring the imperative for interventions. This review elucidated prevalence, health ramifications, paradigms, evolving preventive strategies about two prominent mycotoxins, aflatoxins ochratoxin A. Furthermore, it explored emergence new fungal biocontrol methods using lactic acid bacteria mustard oil, emphasizing efficacy spoilage production. Through an integrative examination these facets, this endeavored furnish comprehensive understanding challenges posed emergent poised ameliorate its impact on food feed safety.

Cereal-based products, nuts and dried fruits are staple foods for the Algerian population. However, these foodstuffs may be sources of harmful mycotoxins, with negative impacts on human health. The purpose this study was to investigate occurrences levels aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1 G2), ochratoxin A (OTA), deoxynivalenol (DON) zearalenone (ZEA) in 198 samples nuts, cereal products commercialized Algeria, as well calculate estimated daily intakes (EDIs). Aflatoxins were found 26.2% nut (in peanuts almonds, but not walnuts), 38.7% fruit figs, dates bradj pastries) 47.9% cereal-based rechta noodles metlou bread, couscous), mean concentrations ranging from 0.03 0.49 μg/kg. OTA occurred 16.9% samples, averaging 0.15 μg/kg, it detected or fruits. incidence DON 85.9% average, a concentration 90 123 ZEA mycotoxin any samples. Four peanut exceeded EU maximum level aflatoxin B1 set at 2 while three them surpassed sum (4 μg/kg). Traditional such bradj, significant aflatoxins, MOE (margin exposure) values 648 9333, indicating potential risk

Multi-mycotoxin analysis of 22 mycotoxins in 202 durum wheat samples collected Algeria from 2019 to 2021 was performed by UHPLCMS/MS. Enniatins were present 2 out 45 the harvest, whereas harvest 2020 37.6% contaminated ochratoxin A and/or beauvericin, deoxynivalenol (1076 µg/kg), fumonisin B1, enniatins, and zearalenone (most prevalent harvest). Mycotoxin contamination increased 55.2% harvests. The most frequently observed mycotoxin co-occurrence combination enniatin A1, B, B1 (0.5-126 µg/kg) DON (1307 µg/kg). AFB1 (0.4-2.6 found only one sample continental region. These results pointed necessity frequent regular quality controls order better evaluate risk regarding Algerian population.
