This review explores intricate relationship between obesity-induced lipid metabolism disorders renal health. We discuss how excessive free fatty acids (FFAs) lead accumulation in tissues, resulting cellular lipotoxicity, oxidative stress, inflammation, ultimately contributing injury. Summary Although chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with obesity, few studies have used visceral adipose tissue (VAT) as an indicator to investigate its causal effect on CKD. Therefore, Mendelian randomization (MR) was employed study the effects of VAT CKD and potential mediation by hypertension. Genome‐wide association (GWAS) statistics exposure were obtained from UK Biobank, while GWAS datasets outcomes CKDGen FinnGen (validation study). Furthermore, considered exposure, estimated glomerular filtration rate based creatinine (eGFR (crea)), cystatin C (eGFR(cys)), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) assess test indicators.
