In this review, we provide an evidence-based approach to determine the cellular and systemic actions of two structurally similar flavonoids, apigenin chrysin. We have clearly evaluated charted overlapping diverging properties these sister flavonoids. Based on separate Omics-based approaches by our group independent reports from others, cholesterol-lowering been revealed. addition, prevention uric acid biosynthesis enhancement ketogenesis also quite evident in Along with functions, chrysin demonstrated unique that allow them stand out each other. Chrysin has abilities like downregulating alanine metabolism pyrimidine synthesis, which could be helpful metabolic diseases cancer. contrast, anti-oxidant anti-inflammatory enhancing endogenous lipids upregulating vasoprotective metabolites, beneficial for cardiovascular, renal, cerebrovascular complications. Further validation studies using vivo translational us better clarity regarding use agents therapeutically treat a combination or pool diseases.

Bee pollen (BP) is one of the richest known natural resources micronutrients and bioactive phytochemicals. Some captivating bioactivities BP compounds, although being largely investigated for latter as individual molecules, remain very scarcely or completely uninvestigated in bee a whole product. Among most intriguing these bioactivities, we identified ferroptosis major one. Ferroptosis, recently discovered form cell death (connecting oxidative stress inflammation), complex pathophysiological process crucial perplexing events current challenging human diseases such cancer, neurodegeneration, general aging diseases. Many compounds were found to intricately modulate depending on cellular context by inducing this mechanism malignant cells preventing it non-malignant cells. Since research both fields, i.e., ferroptosis, still recent, deemed necessary undertake review figure out extent potential modulating mechanisms. Our proved that wide range (polyphenols, phenolamides, carotenoids, vitamins, minerals, others) substantially diverse Accordingly, phytochemicals nutrients showed interesting preclinical studies lead ferroptosis-mediated outcomes important processes, including many aging-related disorders. One paramount challenges be resolved determine how different act biological contexts, either through synergistic antagonistic behaviors. We hope our work constitutes valuable incentive future investigations promising relevant avenue.

Background/Objectives: Sleep is essential to human health, playing a vital role in physical and mental well-being. disorders can lead significant health complications, such as cardiovascular problems, diabetes, obesity, depression. In Brazil, plants passionflower (Passiflora spp.), chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) mulungu (Erythrina spp.) are widely used folk medicine for their sleep-promoting properties. This article reviews the existing literature on effects of these plants, focusing Brazilian context popular knowledge use. Methods: An integrative review was conducted, including scientific articles English Portuguese from PubMed, Scielo Google Scholar databases. Ethnobotanical studies documenting traditional use Brazil clinical preclinical research were included. Results: The juice infusion leaves fruits mainly treat anxiety insomnia, flower tea its sedative effects, bark decoctions anxiolytic These uses supported by demonstrating efficacy treating anxiety, stress. Conclusions: recognition inclusion RENISUS highlights importance public Brazil. However, more rigorous trials needed confirm safety ensure safe integration into modern medicine.

Flavonoids are a class of important polyphenolic compounds, renowned for their antioxidant properties. However, recent studies have uncovered an additional function these natural flavonoids: ability to inhibit ferroptosis. Ferroptosis is key mechanism driving cell death in central nervous system (CNS) diseases, including both acute injuries and chronic neurodegenerative disorders, characterized by iron overload-induced lipid peroxidation dysfunction the defense system. This review discusses therapeutic potential flavonoids from herbs nutraceuticals as ferroptosis inhibitors CNS focusing on molecular mechanisms, summarizing findings preclinical animal models, providing insights clinical translation. We specifically highlight such Baicalin, Baicalein, Chrysin, Vitexin, Galangin, Quercetin, Isoquercetin, Eriodictyol, Proanthocyanidin, (−)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate, Dihydromyricetin, Soybean Isoflavones, Calycosin, Icariside II, Safflower Yellow, which shown promising results models injuries, ischemic stroke, cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid traumatic brain spinal cord injury. Among these, Baicalin its precursor Baicalein stand out due extensive research favorable outcomes injury models. Mechanistically, not only regulate Nrf2/ARE pathway activate GPX4/GSH-related pathways but also modulate metabolism proteins, thereby alleviating overload inhibiting While show promise especially settings, further needed evaluate efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics, blood-brain barrier penetration application.

Ferroptosis, an iron-ion-dependent process of lipid peroxidation, damages the plasma membrane, leading to non-programmed cell death. Osteoarthritis (OA), a prevalent chronic degenerative joint disease among middle-aged and older adults, is characterized by chondrocyte damage or loss. Emerging evidence indicates that ferroptosis plays role in OA development. However, most research has concentrated on regulation involving typical iron ions, potentially neglecting significance elevated copper ions both serum fluid patients with OA. This review aims fill this gap systematically examining interplay between metabolism, oxidative stress, ferroptosis, copper-associated death It will provide comprehensive overview ions' regulating their dual approach seeks offer new insights for further research, prevention, treatment
