With the rapid development of biodiesel, biodiesel-derived glycerol has become a promising renewable bioresource. The key to utilizing this bioresource lies in value-added conversion crude glycerol. While purifying into pure form allows for diverse applications, intricate nature process renders it costly and environmentally stressful. Consequently, technology facilitating direct utilization unpurified holds significant importance. It been reported that can be bio-transformed or chemically converted high-value polymers. These technologies provide cost-effective alternatives polymer production while contributing more sustainable biodiesel industry. This review article describes global quality characteristics investigates influencing factors treatment composition including water, methanol, soap, matter organic non-glycerol, ash. Additionally, also focused on advantages challenges various converting polymers, considering such as compatibility control unfavorable factors. Lastly, application prospect value were discussed from aspects economy environmental protection. new increased use feedstock will facilitated by findings review, promoting mass market applications.
