In recent decades, biogas production from anaerobic digestion of organic fractions municipal solid waste and agricultural residues has emerged as a promising strategy for management renewable energy generation. However, due to the complexity heterogeneity these feedstocks, an appropriate pre-treatment is required before maximise biodegradability enhance production. This especially true lignocellulosic biomass, where maximum potential often difficult reach presence lignin barrier, which not easily biodegradable. Pre-treatment technologies may significantly increase production, up 360 %, residues. paper first provides overview technologies, including mechanical, chemical, biological, thermal, plasma, combined treatments wide variety feedstocks digestion. These studies indicate that selection technology mainly depends on substrate characteristics, desired end results, resource availability. Furthermore, most emphasise significance balancing benefits drawbacks sustainable waste-to-energy practices. Then, article evaluates scalability, technical feasibility, economic viability, industrial applicability environmental sustainability methods. review will be valuable researchers, policymakers, practitioners working in field conversion through

This research investigated the effects of hydrothermal depolymerization with Fe/Ni loaded C catalysts on anaerobic digestion (AD) performance corn stover (CS). CS was depolymerized at 140 °C for 20 min Fe/C or Ni/C catalysts, and then anaerobically digested. The results showed that biomethane yield Fe/C-600 increased by 36.6% compared to control. increase could be attributed effective (DC), indicated modified structures solid fraction enriched available components liquid fraction. SEM analyses microphysical structure after DC obviously disrupted, resulting in more accessibility cellulose hemicellulose. crystallinity index (CrI) significantly reduced from 32.5% 23.5%, allowing a easily biodegradable non-crystalline area enzymes. Meanwhile, group produced 4.7 times reducing sugar (RS), 3.4 total volatile fatty acids (VFAs) as Furthermore, these enhancements led an relative abundance cellulolytic bacteria (Hydrogenispora Fermentimonas) methanogenic archaea (Methanosarcina) following AD process. explain reason microbial perspectives. study demonstrated provide approach obtaining via AD.

Anaerobic digestion (AD) has been recognized as one of the most viable options for treatment a wide range waste materials. Complex structure wastes is safely broken down to destroy pollutants and pathogens. Biogas produced by-product this process which considered clean energy resource. However, provision controlled environment microbial activities critical ensure required efficiency. This can only be achieved with efficient design vessels used anaerobic digestion, termed AD reactors. functions such mixing, hydrodynamics, multiphase interaction, heat transfer, temperature distribution bio kinetics are significantly affected by reactor shape, configurations, hence making it essential optimize before installation at large scale. Mostly, optimization carried out help lab scale experimentations testing protocols result in high costs repeating several experiments. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) an applied mathematical tool helps understand predict dynamics, flow well species transport different domains. approach contributes minimize experimental while optimizing configurations less time. The current review presented summarize discuss core characteristics followed concerned CFD attributes. Research gaps challenges identified aspects design, configuration, flow, biokinetics machine learning approaches.
