In droplet microfluidics, UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy along with colorimetric assays have been widely used for chemical and biochemical analysis. However, the sensitivity of measurement can be limited by short optical pathlength. Here we report a novel design to enhance removing oil converting droplets into single-phase aqueous flow, which measured within U-shape channel long The flow cells were fabricated via 3D printing. calibration results demonstrated complete removal effective pathlengths similar designed lengths (from 5 20 mm). cell was further employed in microfluidic-based phosphate sensing system. levels displayed excellent consistency data obtained from traditional UV This overcomes limitations microfluidics has potential situ continuous monitoring.

Optical fibre sensors are an essential subset of optical technology, designed specifically for sensing and measuring several physical parameters. These offer unique advantages over traditional sensors, making them gradually more valuable in a wide range applications. They can detect extremely small variations the parameters they to measure, such as analytes case biosensing. This high sensitivity allows subtle temperature, pressure, strain, refractive index analytes, vibration, other environmental factors with exceptional accuracy. Moreover, these enable remote capabilities. Since light signals used carry information, elements be placed at distant or inaccessible sites still communicate data back central monitoring system without signal degradation. In recent times, different attractive configurations approaches have been proposed enhance fibre-based sensor briefly explained this review. However, we believe that choice configuration should designated based on specific application. As continue evolve improve, will play increasingly vital role critical control applications across various industries.

Since being invented, droplet microfluidic technologies have been proven to be perfect tools for high-throughput chemical and biological functional screening applications, they heavily studied improved through the past two decades. Each can used as one single bioreactor compartmentalize a big material or population, so millions of droplets individually screened based on demand, while sorting function could extract interest separate pool from main library. In this paper, we reviewed detection active methods that are currently still widely high-through applications in systems, including latest updates regarding each technology. We analyze summarize merits drawbacks presented technology conclude, with our perspectives, future direction development.
