Introduction: Rapid symptom relief is crucial for individuals with emotional disorders. The current study aimed to determine whether facilitator-supported mindfulness-based self-help (MBSH) intervention as an adjunctive treatment could provide rapid improvement Methods: A practice-oriented randomized controlled trial was conducted on a sample of 302 patients disorders from four centers. Participants were randomly assigned either MBSH+TAU (treatment usual; n = 152) or TAU-only group (n 150). Assessments at baseline, week 3, 5, immediately after and 3-month follow-up. Primary outcomes included self-reported clinician-reported anxiety depression symptoms. Secondary mindfulness, physical symptoms, perceived stress, sleep quality, inner peace. Results: achieved significantly greater improvements in all primary secondary outcome measures compared (Cohen’s d 0.19–0.51). In addition, relatively observed depression, peace early 3 which sustained the follow-up 0.20–0.34). Conclusions: Facilitator-supported MBSH offers scalable effective option clinical practice, facilitating improvements.

Theoretical models highlight body image disturbances as central to the maintenance of eating disorders, with empirical evidence finding negative be a robust predictor treatment nonresponse, relapse and symptom persistence. Accessible, scalable, inexpensive interventions that can effectively target across disorders are needed. We developed an online single session intervention (SSI) for evaluated its acceptability efficacy in randomized controlled trial individuals recurrent binge eating.

There is growing enthusiasm towards the role of smartphone app-based interventions in management insomnia and related sleep problems. A considerable number apps designed to address have been developed recent years, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) begun explore their efficacy. We conducted a meta-analysis investigating effectiveness for disturbances. From 19 RCTs, we identified significant pooled effect sizes primary outcomes self-reported (g = 0.60; 05 % CI 0.44, 0.76; NNT 4.8) disturbances 0.70; 95 0.58, 0.83; 4.1) favour over control conditions. These effects remained robust when restricting analyses that delivered placebo control, received lower risk bias rating, had larger sample size. Significant were also observed secondary night time awakenings 0.56), total 0.33), onset latency 0.32), but non-significant emerged daytime sleepiness, dysfunctional beliefs about sleep, efficiency, hygiene, wake after onset. The dropout rate from app conditions was 13.1 (95 8.3, 20.0), which significantly higher than (OR 1.78, 1.39, 2.28). Findings suggest stand-alone can effectively disturbances, may play an important these symptoms.

Background The global aging population and rapid development of digital technology have made health management among older adults an urgent public issue. complexity online information often leads to psychological challenges, such as cyberchondria, exacerbating avoidance behaviors. These behaviors hinder effective management; yet, little research examines their mechanisms or intervention strategies. Objective This study investigates the influencing adults, emphasizing mediating role cyberchondria. In addition, it evaluates effectiveness mindfulness meditation strategy mitigate these Methods A mixed methods approach was used, combining quantitative qualitative methodologies. Substudy 1 developed a theoretical model based on self-determination theory explore internal (positive metacognition self-efficacy) external (subjective norms similarity) factors avoidance, with cyberchondria mediator. cross-sectional survey (N=236) conducted test proposed model. 2 involved 4-week (N=94) assess its impact reducing Results Study showed that positive (β=.26, P=.002), self-efficacy (β=.25, P<.001), similarity (β=.29, P<.001) significantly predicted adults. Cyberchondria mediated effects: (effect=0.106, 95% CI 0.035-0.189), (effect=0.103, 0.043-0.185), (effect=0.120, 0.063-0.191). Subjective did not predict (β=‒.11, P=.13), mediate this relationship (effect=‒0.045, ‒0.102 0.016). found after intervention, group (group 1: n=46) exhibited higher levels than control 2: n=48; Mgroup1=4.122, Mgroup2=3.606, compared preintervention (Mt2=4.122, Mt1=3.502, P<.001, where t1=preintervention t2=postintervention). However, change (Mt1=2.848, Mt2=2.685, P=.18). Nevertheless, results revealed significant interaction effect between (effect=‒0.357, P=.002, ‒0.580 ‒0.131), suggesting effectively inhibited transformation into behavior. Conclusions reveals in validates for mitigating Findings offer practical recommendations improving delivery strategies

This study explores the introductory experiences and expectations of mobile-based meditation (MbM) among university students, a non-clinical population, to address gaps in mindfulness research regarding individual needs. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, semi-structured online interviews were conducted with six students. The analysis identified three interconnected themes initial MbM practice: calm (induced by clarity, escape, portability, autonomy, reduced distractions); focus (affected setting, novelty structure guided meditations, disentanglement thoughts, ‘wakeful sleep’ experience); self-awareness (focused on bodily sensations, memories, abilities, emotions, life’s pleasures). While was generally positive, perceived limitations caused demotivation discontinuation for some participants. Initial often heightened calmness, adherence, continued use. acknowledges potential positivity bias challenges capturing nuanced temporal dynamics experiences. These findings underscore importance clear communication from app developers healthcare providers about purpose emotional variability practice, including integration focus-related metrics, before individuals begin using MbM. contributes novel insights into psychological experiences, both between within individuals, offers practical implications design implementation interventions.
