Urban green roofs have emerged as an innovative nature-based solution for enhancing urban sustainability and resilience. Based on the Web of Science Core Collection database, scholarly papers published in past two decades were analyzed quantitatively visualized using bibliometric techniques. The study scope covered research countries, institutions, main journals, crucial authors, highly cited documents, hot topics, frontiers. 3210 publications mined from bibliographic database increased progressively period, with a significantly faster pace recent years. subjects changed gradually over time, extending into more disciplines becoming decidedly multidisciplinary. notable features registered pronounced spatial concentration outputs small number regions, researchers, mainly associated developed metropolises. citation impacts identified world’s top ten researchers journals. Well-defined clusters depicted by knowledge graphs indicated diverse range strength inter-node connections topics defined keywords. focuses quantifying benefits costs optimizing designs to maximize biodiversity, hydrologic, thermal, energy climate-adaptation solutions. Emerging should enhance biodiversity through optimal plant selection, integrate renewable systems sustainability, apply computational tools designs, evaluate low-cost locally relevant design options developing cities, quantify co-benefits like stormwater reduction savings. Multidisciplinary efforts leveraging simulations, ecosystem services valuation, participatory community partnerships can advance context-appropriate roof innovation evidence-based policymaking expand adoption cities worldwide. Quantifying communicating are critical measures drive wider implementation.

Due to ongoing climate change, urban areas face increasing challenges associated with rising temperatures and growing energy demand. Green roofs have emerged as a sustainable, nature-based solution enhance resilience. This study presents systematic review of the thermal performance green in Mediterranean region, was conducted following PRISMA framework. By identifying targeted research questions formulated using PICO(C) structure, this systematically evaluates potential promote sustainable environments regions. The findings highlight their effectiveness mitigating heat stress, enhancing building efficiency, counteracting temperature fluctuations, reinforcing role key adaptation strategy densely populated areas. also identifies critical gaps that must be addressed facilitate large-scale adoption roofs. Specifically, lack long-term monitoring, need for standardized assessment protocols, necessity optimizing roof configurations subregions emerge future investigation. bridges crucial gap literature by providing systematic, PRISMA-compliant evaluation. It offers scientific community robust knowledge base inform policy, planning, directions.
