Carbon materials engineered electrically conductive cement concrete (ECCC) is typically prepared by directly adding carbon-based filler into the matrix and then mixing with aggregates. With such a strategy, ECCC possesses high conductivity strain/stress sensitivity thus can be used for snow ice melting, ohmic heating, cathodic protection system, electromagnetic shielding, structural health monitoring, traffic detection. This paper aims to provide systematic review on development applications of ECCC, especially progress made in past decade (from 2012 2022). The composition manufacture are first introduced. Then, electrical performance its potential reviewed. Finally, remaining challenges future work discussed.
