Abstract The mean slope flow velocity is critical in soil erosion models but the mechanism of its variation under rigid vegetation cover remains unclear. On natural slopes, grows predominantly perpendicular to horizontal plane (BH), with some growing perpendicularly surface (BS); however, current research often neglects effects these two growth directions on velocity. We conducted simulation experiments using different coverage levels, vegetation, angles, and rates showed that rate significantly influenced As increased, increased more conditions (BH) those (BS). A model for predicting was developed equivalent roughness Manning formula, which accurately predicted conditions. This study contributes refinement theory provides data supports water conservation efforts.
