Disinfection by-products (DBPs), a kind of secondary pollutant derived from water disinfection treatment, are frequently detected in the urban cycle and reported to show (eco)toxicological impacts on aquatic systems human health. Thus, DBPs have become ubiquitous environmental contaminants emerging concern. This article reviews DBP characteristics as well occurrence different aqueous environments, namely reclaimed wastewater, surface drinking water. Furthermore, this review discusses research related fate removal wastewater-derived components cycle, including advanced treatment facilities, natural systems, plants, distribution plumbing household processes. In general, under influence internal factors (i.e. physicochemical properties other individual DBP) external (e.g., composition conditions processes, characteristic quality). As for future needs, identification monitoring development predictive models significance effectively assess mitigate impact ecological safety Besides, addition system, should also pay attention air terrestrial ecosystem.
