Organic dyes play vital roles in the textile industry, while discharge of organic dye wastewater production and utilization has caused significant damage to aquatic ecosystem. This review aims summarize mechanisms photocatalysis, sonocatalysis, sonophotocatalysis treatment recent advances catalyst development, with a focus on synergistic effect ultrasound light catalytic degradation dyes. The performance TiO2-based catalysts for photocatalytic, sonocatalytic, sonophotocatalytic systems is compared. With light, generally performs much better than sonocatalysis or photocatalysis alone pollutant degradation, yet it higher energy requirement.
