Abstract Human existence and societal growth are both dependent on the availability of clean fresh water. Photocatalysis is a type artificial photosynthesis that uses environmentally friendly, long-lasting materials to address energy environmental issues. There currently considerable demand for low-cost, high-performance wastewater treatment equipment. By changing structure, size, characteristics nanomaterials, use nanotechnology in field water filtration has evolved dramatically. Semiconductor-assisted photocatalysis recently advanced become among most promising techniques fields sustainable generation ecological cleanup. It beneficial, cost-effective, strictly linked zero waste discharge principle used industrial effluent treatment. Owing reduction or removal created unwanted byproducts, green synthesis photoactive nanomaterial more beneficial than chemical approaches. Furthermore, unlike methods, method does not require expensive, dangerous, poisonous ingredients, making it less costly, easy, photocatalyst synthesis. This work focuses distinct greener utilized production new photocatalysts, including metals, metal doped-metal oxides, plasmonic nanostructures, application intelligence machine learning design selection an innovative context challenges. A brief overview applications photocatalysts also presented. Finally, recommendations future research given create photocatalytic systems with greatly improved stability efficiency.

Lignin has been employed as a precursor to synthesize activated carbons with the aim of lignin-biomass revalorization. The properties these were compared, and best adsorbent was remove two emerging pollutants from water, acetaminophen acetamiprid. adsorption mechanisms pharmaceutical pesticide compounds analyzed, modeled interpreted via statistical physics models. In particular, kinetics isotherms acetamiprid at temperatures between 20 60 °C quantified experimentally. Equilibrium data fitted different physics-based isotherm models establish corresponding mechanism. A double layer model one type functional group correlate explain removal organic molecules. Steric parameters for also calculated thus determining that their multi-molecular. At tested operating conditions, endothermic, while exothermic. Physical forces expected be responsible both compounds. This study reports new insights on relevant commonly found in water worldwide.
