As a prospective member in the family of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), heterogeneous sulfite activation shows low cost and high safety for poisonous organic pollutants' degradation. To obtain an efficient activator, oxidase (SuOx), molybdenum-based enzyme that can prompt sulfite, inspired us greatly. Based on structure SuOx, MoS2/BPE (BPE = 1, 2-bis-(4-pyridyl)-ethylene) is synthesized successfully. In MoS2/BPE, BPE molecule inserted between MoS2 layers as pillar N atom links with Mo4+ directly. excellent SuOx mimic activity. Theoretical calculation implies insertion optimizes d-band center position which regulates interaction *SO42–. This prompts •SO4– generation At pH 7.0, its tetracycline degradation efficiency achieved 93.9% 30 min. Furthermore, ability also endows antibiofouling performance because kill microorganisms water effectively. work develops new activator based SuOx. The connection activity clarified detail.
