Abstract Optical information encryption and safety have aroused great attention since they are closely correlated to data protection safety. The development of multiple stimuli‐response optical materials for constructing large‐capacity is very important practical applications. Carbon dots (CDs) many gratifying merits, such as polychromatic emission, diverse luminous categories, stable physicochemical properties, considered one the most ideal candidates protection. Herein, carbon core, functional groups, solvents, other crucial factors reviewed outputting emission categories. In particular, substrate engineering strategies been emphasized their critical role in yielding excellent features High‐capacity by relying on rich properties CDs, categories fluorescence, afterglow, upconversion, well external‐stimuli‐assisted changes. Some perspectives preparing CDs further developing security proposed. This review provides a good reference manipulation next‐generation

Exploring high-safety but convenient encryption and decryption technologies to combat threats of information leakage is urgently needed remains a great challenge. Here, synergistically time- temperature-resolved coding/decoding solution based on functional photonic inks demonstrated. Encrypted messages can be stored into multiple channels with dynamic-color patterns, only enabled at appointed temperature time points. Notably, the ink easily processed quick-response codes multipixel plates. With high transparency responsive color variations controlled by compositions ambient temperatures, advanced 3D stacking multichannel coding Morse techniques applied for multi-information storage, complex anticounterfeiting, interference. This study paves an avenue design development dynamic high-end anticounterfeiting applications.

Abstract Physical unclonable function (PUF) is attractive in modern encryption technologies. Addressing the disadvantage of slow data storage/authentication optical PUF paramount for practical applications but remains an on‐going challenge. Here, a highly efficient strategy based on random structural color domains (SCDs) cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) proposed first time, combing with hyperspectral imaging system (HIS) ultrafast storage and authentication. By controlling growth fusion behavior tactoids CNC, SCDs display irregular distribution colors, shapes, sizes, reflectance spectra, which grant unique inherent fingerprint‐like characteristics that are non‐duplicated. Based images these fingerprint features used to develop two sets key generation methods, can be respectively authenticated at user‐end manufacturer‐front‐end achieving high coding capacity least 2 2304 . Notably, use HIS greatly shortens time reading (≈5 s recording, 0.5–0.7 authentication). This new labels not only solve complicated authentication PUF, also impulse development CNC industrial by reducing uniformity requirement.
