In addressing the expensive transportation and disposal cost of waste activated sludge (WAS), an in situ reduction strategy was developed this study based on H2O2/O3 lysis a cryptic growth process. The critical roles solubilization biodegradability lysate were analyzed comprehensively. Under dosage 0.36 g O3/g mixed liquor volatile suspended solids (MLVSS), H2O2 addition (H2O2/O3 molar ratio 0.25) led to significant improvement cell performance terms MLVSS (35.2% vs 26.3%). Compared with O3 alone, treated exhibited higher biodegradability, as value BOD5/COD increased from 0.72 0.79, accompanied by mean specific rates 6.71 7.42 h–1, respectively. Reintroduction H2O2/O3-treated into mainstream biological process facilitated further hydrolysis oxidized fragments, achieving overall 29.1% without adversely affecting effluent quality adversely. A pilot-scale experiment at 2.4 m3/d treatment capacity also demonstrated similar 28.1% term MLVSS. Economic analysis revealed that net benefit reached 132/t dry (DS), highlighting potential combined method for effective reduction.

The production of municipal sludge is steadily increasing in line with the sewage. A wealth organic contaminants, including nutrients and energy, are present sludge. Anaerobic fermentation can be used to extract useful resources from sludge, producing hydrogen, methane, short-chain fatty acids, and, via further chain elongation, medium-chain acids. By comparing economic use values these retrieved resources, it concluded that a high-value resource transformation achieved acids using anaerobic fermentation, which hotspot for future research. In this study, selection pretreatment method, method influence electron donor, technique enhance product synthesis process introduced detail. study outlines potential research directions acid These could serve as starting point investigating other uses

ABSTRACT The massive discharge of coal fly ash and sewage sludge has placed great pressure on the environment society. This study proposes a feasible method for producing lightweight subgrade bricks from sludge. results show that mainly consist mullite (3Al2O3·2SiO2), hematite (Fe2O3), sillimanite (Al2SiO5), aluminum phosphate (AlPO4), small amount cristobalite (SiO2). formation AlPO4 improved sintering mechanical properties sintered samples. voids cracks in samples was primarily attributable to combustion shrinkage organic matter mixture. maximum compressive flexural strengths were observed when content 40 wt. %, corresponding strength 19.86 8.57 MPa, respectively. An appropriate improves connections between particles promotes densification bricks. These provide direction development applications field building materials.
