The growing awareness on energy environmental crisis has driven global efforts for creating a circular economy via developing sustainable eco-friendly alternatives traditional produced from fossil fuels variety of end-use applications. In order to explore the chemical water characteristics of water-scarce rivers in China, Ciyao River basin Shanxi Province was taken as a case study. Water samples mainstream and its tributaries were collected wet, normal, dry seasons 2021. TDS middle stream > downstream upstream trend, hydrochemical type Cl • SO4 HCO3 – Ca Na. contents most significantly changed based on differences sampling sites seasons. Natural human factors influence river. According Gibbs diagram Piper (Figure 3), ionic is mainly affected by joint action rock weathering evaporative crystallization. Carbonate rocks constitute significant weathering, followed silicate rocks. Wastewater industrial enterprises, agricultural wastewater, activities people’s daily living also have some weathering.
