Abstract Humic acid (HA), as an important part of natural organic matter (NOM), is a precursor disinfection byproducts. HA affects the migration and transformation inorganic substances such metal ions, causing direct harm to ecological environment human health. Therefore, removal aspect geochemical research. In this review, research on application biochar modified biochar, which exhibit excellent capability, in treatment HA-like NOM water summarized. The different mechanisms via are discussed by analyzing structure-activity relationship under various influencing conditions. performance mechanism adsorption, Fenton, photocatalysis, electrochemical oxidation methods analyzed, their advantages disadvantages compared. Finally, potential development direction multifunctional materials for NOM, including HA, from reviewed. This review provides theoretical technical support using novel its actual bodies. Graphical

It is imperative to devise effective removal strategies for high ionization potential (IP) organic pollutants in wastewater as their reduced electron-donating capacity challenges the efficiency of advanced oxidation systems degradation. Against this backdrop, leveraging metal-based carbon material structure meticulously, we employed metal-pyridine-N (M-N-C, M=Fe, Co, and Ni) electron transfer bridge. This distinctive design facilitated ordered electrons from adsorbent surface IP value pollutants, acting a “supplement” compensate deficient capability, thereby culminating selective adsorption these pollutants. Furthermore, also demonstrated trace emerging contaminants (2 mg/L), displayed robust resistance various salts, exhibited reusability, maintained stability. These findings carry substantial implications future carbon-based design, offering pathway toward exceptional performance treating water pollution.
