Eight on-site greywater treatment facilities of four different types (A, B, C and D) were investigated. Three commercially available package plants (A-C) one was a conventional sand filter (D). The unit Type A consisted geotextile-fitted trickling bottom layer, the B packs fibrous mineral wool materials, fine-meshed plastic filter. systems assessed in terms their removal efficiency for organic matter (e.g. BOD, COD, TOC), nutrients (nitrogen phosphorus), surfactants, indicator bacteria (E. coli enterococci) as well microplastics. Systems D effectively reduced by >96% >94% COD >90% TOC. Their effluent BOD <29 mg/l. reduction range 70-95%. Removal anionic surfactants with concentration <1 mg/l all facilities. In general, ineffective removing E. enterococci; most efficient (type D), achieving 1.4-3.8 log

Abstract The impact of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS, as model linear anionic surfactant) dosage on overall nitrogen removal performance anammox reactor alongside its microbial population and sludge properties was investigated. In this study (day 136), an anmmox sequencing batch biofilm subjected to gradual SDS from 0 20 mg L −1 . Intriguingly, results revealed that at ≥7.5 prompted disintegration, evidenced by increased protein polysaccharide content in the effluent. Nevertheless, reactor's average total efficiency slightly improved 83.12% (0 ) 86.3% (20 ). 16S rRNA gene dosing significantly suppressed unwanted unavoidable nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOBs) abundance genus Nitrospira declined 40.68% 1) 19.15% 136). Furthermore, adding concentrations (≥7.5 may effectively suppress notorious NOBs biofilm‐based systems.

Abstract As the cosmetic market continues to transform, innovative ingredients such as biosurfactants (BS) emerge a fundamental step towards generation of products characterized by efficacy, safety, and environmental responsibility. In alignment with global push natural, renewable, non‐toxic materials, BS stands out an interesting alternative conventional synthetic surfactants. are type green surfactants compared derived from petroleum they more biodegradable have low or no toxicity. This work aimed investigate suitability biosurfactant extracted yeast Scheffersomyces shehatae (BS‐SS) be used in applications. The cytotoxicity BS‐SS was tested fibroblast (L929) keratinocyte (HaCaT) cell lines potential for ocular irritation assessed hen's egg chorioallantoic membrane test (HET‐CAM). cleaning efficiency measured ability make‐up removal pig skin. Our results showed that IC 50 values were 10.49 mg/mL fibroblasts 11.77 keratinocytes, did not result hemorrhage, lysis, coagulation damages membrane, which classifies solution non‐irritant. Therefore, toxicity vitro skin can tolerable safe purposes. featured promising properties, similar cleansing activity 1% SDS micellar water lipstick foundation products. conclusion, indicate its use
