The utilization of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) in dentistry presents a promising avenue for novel therapeutic interventions. This systematic review vivo studies aimed at summarizing the existing evidence regarding efficacy CAP as treatment biofilms associated with periodontitis and peri-implantitis. objective was to advance definition standardization protocols facilitate integration chair-side practice. registered PROSPERO database (CRD42023404757), comprehensive search conducted following PRISMA guidelines using PubMed, Scopus, Web Science, Embase databases. In total, 9 were included, 1 on humans 8 animal models. A notable reduction residual bacteria when combined conventional therapies both peri-implantitis models observed. Biochemical histological assays demonstrated decrease inflammatory cytokines within crevicular fluid oral tissues. Current suggests that shows promise treatment, but further clinical trials larger cohorts standardized are needed confirm its safety.
