Identifying
the
underlying
mechanisms
through
which
adverse
childhood
experiences
affect
(ACEs)
mental
health
of
adolescents
is
paramount
importance
for
disease
prevention
in
later
stages
life.The
present
study
examines
relationship
between
ACEs
and
psychopathology
from
northern
Chile
how
attachment
style

moderate

relationship.

Abstract
Child
maltreatment
is
a
global
concern
that
profoundly
affects
individuals
throughout
their
lives.
This
study
investigated
the
relationships
between
various
forms
of
child
and
behavior
problems
involving
internalization
externalization
during
adolescence.
Data
obtained
from
diverse
sample
1802
Canadians
aged
14–18
years
was
used
to
examine
mediating
role
alexithymia—a
difficulty
in
recognizing
expressing
emotions—in
these
associations.
Results
indicated
adolescents
who
experienced
sexual
abuse,
emotional
exposure
intimate
partner
violence
(IPV)
childhood
exhibited
higher
levels
alexithymia,
which
correlated
with
elevated

internalizing
externalizing
