Abstract The aim of this study was to examine the associations between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and high levels social service usage by women who are sex trafficked. Fifty (N = 50) were trafficked surveyed using purposive snowball sampling methods. ACEs score for respondents ranged from 2 10 with an average 7.4 (SD 2.3). Emotional sexual abuse tied at 88 percent as most frequently cited among in sample. prevalence significantly higher sample compared known estimates similar populations, ranging 20 54 (p < .001). Considering well-established link poor health outcomes, these findings point need innovative targeted provisions formerly that take into consideration level women. Given sociodemographic diversity sample, there is a services trauma-informed, innovative, culturally sensitive variety settings.

Exposure to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) confers a higher risk of developing depression in adulthood, yet the mediation inflammation remains under debate. To test this model, we conducted systematic review and two-stage structural equation modelling meta-analysis studies reporting correlations between ACEs before age 18, inflammatory markers severity adulthood. Scopus, Pubmed, Medline, PsycInfo, CINAHL were searched up 2 October 2023. Twenty-two data on C-reactive protein (CRP, n = 12,935), interleukin-6 (IL-6, 4108), tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α, 2256) composite measures (n 1674) included. Unadjusted models revealed that CRP (β 0.003, 95 % LBCI 0.0002 0.0068), IL-6 0.001 0.006), 0.009, 0.004 0.018) significantly mediated association adult depression. The effects no longer survived after adjusting for BMI; however, serial model BMI sequentially 0.002, 0.0005 0.0046), accounting 14.59 9.94 variance depressive symptoms, respectively. Due cross-sectional nature assessment findings should be approached with caution; results suggest complex interactions psychoneuroimmunological metabolic factors underlie adulthood

Abstract Background Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have been implicated in the aetiology of a range health outcomes, including multimorbidity. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed to identify, synthesise, quantify current evidence linking ACEs Methods We searched seven databases from inception 20 July 2023: APA PsycNET, CINAHL Plus, Cochrane CENTRAL, Embase, MEDLINE, Scopus, Web Science. selected studies investigating adverse events occurring during (< 18 years) an assessment multimorbidity adulthood (≥ years). Studies that only assessed or outcomes children were excluded. Risk bias was using ROBINS-E tool. Meta-analysis prevalence dose–response meta-analysis methods used for quantitative data synthesis. This pre-registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023389528). Results From 15,586 records, 25 eligible inclusion (total participants = 372,162). The exposure ≥ 1 48.1% (95% CI 33.4 63.1%). 34.5% 23.4 47.5%). Abstract Objective Although rates of weight discrimination are on‐par with racial, ethnic, and gender discrimination, comparatively less work has examined impacts weight‐based in youth, including on disordered eating. Knowing whether experiences youth multiply‐marginalized identities, associated eating could identify vulnerable inform intervention efforts. Method Youth ( N = 11,875) ages 10–11 were recruited through the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. Logistic regressions using cross‐sectional data (weight, perceived sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, national origin) (binge‐eating, vomiting, weight‐gain fear, self‐worth). Models included age, sex, parental income, degree elevated weight. Raked poststratification weights used. Results Rates (6.2%) similar to race/ethnicity (4.4%) orientation (4.5%). Weight‐based was more reporting multiple had significantly increased compared who did not report discrimination. Discussion is common likely be multiply marginalized experience These findings suggest a critical target prevent treat disorders. Public Significance Experiences contribute poorer health; however, relatively understudied. Data from large sample showed that reported experiencing types odds each additional type Together, this suggests disorders, especially youth.
