ABSTRACT Old trees are remarkable for their ability to endure centuries or even millennia, acting as recordkeepers of historical climate and custodians genetic diversity. The secret longevity has long been a subject fascination. Despite the challenges associated with studying old trees, such massive size, slow growth rate, lifespan often remote habitat, accumulating studies have investigated mechanisms underlying tree aging over past decade. recent publication high‐quality genomes long‐lived species, coupled research on stem cell function secondary metabolites in longevity, brought us closer unlocking secrets arboreal longevity.
