Microplastic pollution is a pressing issue with far-reaching environmental and public health consequences. This study delves into the intricacies of predicting microplastic during COVID-19 pandemic in Tehran, Iran. The research introduces rigorous comparative analysis that evaluates predictive prowess Deep Random Forest algorithm established benchmarks, such as Forest, Decision Trees, Gradient Boosting, AdaBoost, Support Vector Machine. evaluation process encompasses meticulous 70–30 training–testing split main data set. Performance assessed by metrics, including ROC statistical errors. primary set distinct categories, household wastes, hospital clinics unknown-originated susceptible waste which categorized Infected items, PPEs, SUPs, Test kits, Medical packages, Unknown-originated mircoplastic waste. Deliberately, this was partitioned training testing subsets, ensuring robustness reliability subsequent analyses. Approximately 70% database allocated to set, remaining 30% constituting findings underscore proposed algorithm's supremacy, boasting an impressive AUC = 0.941. exceptional score reflects model's precision categorizing microplastics. Microplastics can enter the human body through food chain and cause cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases; thus, it is essential to detect microplastics sensitively accurately. Traditional methods have some drawbacks, such as a low sensitivity complicated experimental procedures, so difficult less than 1 μm. While surface enhanced Raman scattering technology compensate for these shortcomings, there are fewer reports on quantitative detection of using SERS technology. In this study, an internal standard method were utilized qualitatively quantitatively. The electric field enhancement effect common gold, silver, copper substrates simulated by finite element method, influence rule structural parameters factor was obtained optimize parameters. Subsequently, gold nanopyramid array substrate prepared colloidal sphere template method. Finally, applied polystyrene with diameter 500 nm, limit 1.8 × 10-4 mg mL-1 in range 2-2 mL-1, correlation coefficient linear regression equation 0.9918. results showed that proposal has lower wider expands ideas qualitative seawater.

The COVID-19/2020 crisis impacted several sectors of our society, including solid waste management (SWM). Changes in generation trends ─ quantity and composition have been reported worldwide. Assessing data creates the opportunity to provide decision-makers with adequate knowledge respond effectively future pandemic-like situations. This work draws on household waste, healthcare (HCW), recyclables collected Rio de Janeiro municipality, analyzed from January 2018 December 2023. As expected, collection HCW experienced a noticeable increase 2020 2021, an average 46.9 54.3 tonnes per month, respectively. Notably, 2021 saw significant 42% compared 2019 (p-value<0.001), rise higher than 40% 2022 2023 2018-2020 (p-value<0.05). To enhance SWM Janeiro, we suggest 1) Investing thermal thermochemical treatments for hazardous non-recyclable residues, 2) Decentralized valorization solutions like home-composting practice decentralized anaerobic digestion systems, 3) Implementing oriented public awareness campaigns, enforcement separation at source, creation recycling programs considering local circumstances. study offers template municipalities facing similar challenges during health emergencies beyond.

Oral devices, such as foil-type show great potential for the delivery of poorly permeable macromolecules by enabling unidirectional release loaded pharmaceutical composition in close proximity to epithelium small intestine or colon. However, one primary concerns associated with use devices so far has been utilization nonbiodegradable elastomers fabrication devices. Therefore, research into biodegradable substitute materials similar characteristics enables drug a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. In this study, elastomer, polyoctanediol citrate (POC), was synthesized via one-pot reaction, subsequent purification microscale pattern replication casting. The microstructure geometry designed enable selected which high intrinsic surface free energy. final elastomer demonstrated have an elastic modulus ranging up 2.2 ± 0.1 MPa, strain at failure 110.1 1.5%. Microplastics (MPs) are being released into the environment in large quantities, especially less developed parts of world. This group pollutants is mostly leached through heavy plastic dumpsites, pharmaceutical and personal care product containers, hospital wastes, package accessories, litter from food packaging. Consequently, these compounds found different compartments ecosystem, such as soils, sediments, biota, and, surprisingly, drinking water. The present study systematically appraised recent studies on MP pollution Asian African environments. It also summarized trends methods for environmental monitoring MPs removal strategies that have been employed. From data gathered, two key instrumentations involved microscopes visualization Fourier transform-infra-red (FT-IR) spectrometer to classify or characterize MPs.
