Abstract Polyphagous aphids often have host-specialized lineages and the mechanisms remain to be elucidated. The aphid Aphis gossypii has several including one specialized on Cucurbitaceae Malvaceae. We found that performance of Malvaceae lineage were poor cucumbers, but significantly improved cucumbers previously infested by Cucurbit for 14 d. Following feeding experience pre-infested acquired ability use healthy cucumbers. pre-infestation largely decreased insect-negative metabolites such as cucurbitacins phenols increased soluble sugars. salicylic acid 25.9% while jasmonic 13.37-fold in which corresponded expression marker genes phytohormone signaling pathways. Exogenous improvement exogenous did not. Those results indicate infestation altered metabolism interrupted defense-associated phytohormones, from we conclude disability overcoming cucumber's defenses caused incompatibility process acclimation may activate some effector targeting cucumber lineage. Our findings provide new insights into host-specialization clues preventing A. switching hosts cucurbits.

Lipoxygenases (LOX) play pivotal roles in plant resistance to stresses. However, no study has been conducted on LOX gene identification at the whole genome scale rose (Rosa chinensis). In this study, a total of 17 RcLOX members were identified genome. The could be classified into three groups: 9-LOX, Type I 13-LOX, and II 13-LOX. Similar structures protein domains can found members. genes spread among all seven chromosomes, with unbalanced distributions, several tandem proximal duplication events Expressions tissue-specific, while every detected least one tissue. expression levels most up-regulated by aphid infestation, suggesting potential resistance. The present study identified 151 proteins from the salivary gland of cowpea aphid Aphis craccivora Koch, using LC-MS/MS analysis. These included enzymes mainly involved in digestion and detoxification secondary metabolites related to cell development molecular function. Enzymes like peroxidase, trehalase, cytochrome P450 monooxygenase, glutathione esterase, peptidase, carboxypeptidase, maltase, beta-galactosidase were prevalent proteome. Additionally, several assigned cellular functions gland. may be host-plant interactions. Comprehensively, these results provide a database for elucidating aphid-plant interactions at level future.
