Abstract The indirect impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on clinical services in peripheral hospitals is not fully described. We compared Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) management outcome an Israeli hospital. included 1029 CVA 497 STEMI patients. Those who arrived during (15/3/2020-15/4/2022) before (1/1/2018-14/3/2020) were demographically comparable. During pandemic, median time for patients from arrival to imaging was longer (23 vs. 19 minutes, p = 0.001); timing tissue Plasminogen Activator administration similar (49 45 min, 0.61); transfer another hospital more common (20.3% 14.4% 0.01) length stay (LOS) shorter (3 4 days, < 0.05). Among patients, intervention intra- (45 50 minutes 0.02); Mean LOS (3.86 4.48 0.01), unplanned re-admission less frequent (7.8% 14.6% 0.01). Mortality didn’t significantly change. Our data shows no major negative outcomes, possibly improved care Follow-up qualitative studies with neurology cardiology staff will inform how quality maintained crises.

Healthcare workers face greater risks for mental health conditions and chronic stress due to the demanding nature of their roles. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated these challenges increased vulnerabilities long-term conditions. present study adapts an existing resilience-based educational workshop program address time constraints unique needs healthcare workforce in a post-COVID-19 world. Expanded from its initial focus on resilience, curriculum incorporates psychoeducation common issues. Between July 2022 June 2024, 15 min “huddle” format offered on-site training equip HCWs large urban system with coping strategies prevent, manage, recover stress. Attendance anonymous feedback were collected at each session via brief electronic surveys. Participant responses (n = 1403) obtained immediately post-huddle suggested positive impact management, perceived leadership support, resilience. Findings show potential huddles improve resilience similar workforces. Our findings support efficacy brief, evidence-based enhancing awareness, skills among HCWs. This model holds significant widespread implementation across other high-stress workplaces.

Summary The COVID‐19 pandemic has imposed substantial burdens on clinicians and there is a need to better understand the impact mental health well‐being. This scoping review investigates prevalence of concerns in anaesthetists, risk protective factors for well‐being, anaesthetists' pandemic‐related support. We searched online databases articles published between January 2020 May 2022, using search terms related to: anaesthesia; burnout, or stress; COVID‐19. identified 20 comprising 19 different populations anaesthetists (n = 8680) from 14 countries. Studies following condition anaesthetists: burnout (14–59%); stress (50–71%); anxiety (11–74%); depression (12–67%); post‐traumatic (17–25%); psychological distress (52%); insomnia (17–61%). Significant poorer included: direct COVID‐19‐related issues (fear self family exposure infection; requirement quarantine); practitioner (insomnia; comorbidities); psychosocial (loneliness; isolation; perceived lack support at home work); demographic (female gender; non‐white ethnicity; LGBTQIA+); workplace (redeployment outside area clinical practice; increased work effort; personal equipment shortages). Protective job satisfaction; organisational justice; older age; male sex. Anaesthetists' self‐reported equipment; resource allocation; fear financial loss; workload; effective communication protocols patient treatment. Support family, colleagues hospital management was as an important coping mechanism. Findings this may design interventions enhance during conditions beyond. Future research should include consistent outcome measures rigorous experimental beyond cross‐sectional studies.

Objectives This study sought to describe feelings and perceptions of burnout moral distress experienced by health care providers in the Canadian province Saskatchewan during COVID-19 pandemic. Methods was part a larger mixed methods project, we here report on qualitative results relating medical doctors, registered nurses respiratory therapists. We used an exploratory, descriptive design involving one-one-one interviews with 24 providers. Interview data were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis approach. Results identified three overarching themes each for provider distress. Interviews revealed that through (i) increased expectations (ii) unfavourable work environments, which led most them recognise (iii) need step back. Regarding distress, key were: sense compromised care, bumping heads authorities patient families, seeing patients make difficult decisions. Conclusion Our found therapists working pandemic continue experience significant often driven both institution- system-level factors. There is sustained investment build support motivated workforce prepare future pandemics emergencies.

Background The COVID-19 pandemic placed an extraordinary burden on health care workers (HCW), who are reported to suffer from great mental stress. current study investigates the of HCW in later phases pandemic. Methods completed following questionnaires online (06/2021-02/2022, N =159): demographics (age, gender, profession, ward), Impact Event Scale (IES-R, posttraumatic stress), State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-S, state anxiety), stress-coping questionnaire (SVF-78), and bespoke corona-specific stress protective-factor questions (5 items each). We used factor analysis test scale properties regression-type methods (t-tests, ANOVA, multiple regression) for hypothesis tests effect-size estimation. Results/discussion Mental is influenced by similar factors as described earlier phases. However, differences were found ward affiliation which no longer a variable concern explaining HCW. Further, even if nurses occupational group with highest prior research, detailed shows that medical specialists close proximity patients high-level responsibility most burdened sub-group. Unlike nurses, they high levels anxiety addition post-traumatic COVID-specific Analyses showed further strongest predictor stress, wherein remain same literature early use still more positive than negative coping strategies. Negative strategies increased expected whereas alleviated only anxiety. Additionally, we doctors benefited many protective while had access fewer like waves. Conclusion Data show third year all hospital wards may be affected need attention measures. Medical subgroup.
