This study aimed to determine the toxicity standard and potential risks effects of polyamide (PA) exposure on neurotoxicity, stress indicators, immune responses in juvenile crucian carp Carassius carassius. Numerous microplastics (MPs) exists within aquatic environments, leading diverse detrimental impacts organisms. The C. carassius (mean weight, 23.7 ± 1.6 g; mean length, 13.9 1.4 cm) were exposed PA concentrations 0, 4, 8, 16, 32 64 mg/L for 2 weeks. Among neurotransmitters, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity liver, gill, intestine was significantly inhibited by exposure. Stress indicators such as cortisol heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) increased, while lysozyme immunoglobulin M (IgM) decreased. Our demonstrates toxic MP carp's responses.

Heterotis niloticus is a basal teleost, belonging to the Osteoglossidae family, which widespread in many parts of Africa. The digestive tract H. presents similar characteristics those higher vertebrates, exhibiting gizzard-like stomach and lymphoid aggregates intestinal lamina propria. adaptive immune system teleost fish linked with each their mucosal body surfaces. In fish, gut-associated tissue (GALT) generally diffuse that represents an important line defense against pathogens inhabiting external environment can enter through food. GALT comprises intraepithelial lymphocytes, reside epithelial layer, propria leukocytes, consist macrophages, granulocytes, dendritic-like cells. This study aims characterize, for first time, leukocytes present niloticus, by confocal immuno- fluorescence techniques, using specific antibodies: toll-like receptor 2, major histocompatibility complex class II, S100 protein, serotonin, CD4, langerin, inducible nitric oxide synthetase. Our results show massive cells thickness submucosa, arranged circumscribed oval-shaped structures are morphologically isolated follicles birds mammals, thus expanding our knowledge about immunity shown this fish.

Abstract The co-evolution between secretory immunoglobulins (sIgs) and microbiota began with the emergence of IgM over half a billion years ago. Yet, function in vertebrates is mostly associated systemic immunity against pathogens. sIgA sIgT are only sIgs known to be required control homeostasis warm- cold-blooded respectively. Recent studies have shown that sIgM coats large proportion gut humans teleost fish, thus suggesting an ancient conserved relationship early vertebrate evolution. To test this hypothesis, we temporarily selectively depleted from rainbow trout, old bony fish species. depletion resulted drastic reduction coating levels losses gutassociated bacteria. These were accompanied by bacterial translocation, severe tissue damage, inflammation dysbiosis predictive metabolic shifts. Furthermore, body weight loss lethality experimental colitis model. Recovery physiological restores barrier integrity, while microbiome their capabilities not fully restituted. Our findings uncover previously unrecognized role as master regulator metabolism challenge current paradigm key regulating homeostasis. One-Sentence Summary IgM, most immunoglobulin jawed vertebrates, for successful symbiosis microbiota.

The mucosal surfaces of fish, including their intestines, gills, and skin, are constantly exposed to various environmental threats, such as water quality fluctuations, pollutants, pathogens. However, cells microbiota closely associated with these work in tandem create a functional protective barrier against conditions. Recent research has shown that incorporating specific feed ingredients into fish diets can significantly boost general immune response. Among the being investigated, insect meal emerged one most promising options, owing its high protein content immunomodulatory properties. By positively influencing structure function surfaces, potential enhance overall status fish. This review provides comprehensive overview benefits aquafeed ingredient for augmenting response

The zebrafish is extensively used as an animal model for human and fish diseases. However, our understanding of the structural organization its immune system remains incomplete, especially mucosa-associated lymphoid tissues (MALTs). Teleost MALTs are commonly perceived diffuse scattered populations cells throughout mucosa. Yet, structured have been recently discovered in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.), including interbranchial tissue (ILT) gills. existence ILT was only identified other species, highlighting need in-depth characterizations gill-associated (GIALT) teleosts. Here, using 3-D high-resolution microscopy, we analyze GIALT adult with immuno-histology approach that reveals via labeling T/NK antibody directed to a highly conserved epitope on kinase ZAP70. We show distributed over at least five distinct sub-regions, found all pairs gill arches. pharyngeal part arch, septum filaments/lamellae, two sub-regions: ILT, newly structure located along each side which named Amphibranchial Lymphoid Tissue (ALT).
