Green innovation is a new driving force to promote green and low-carbon development. Whether an energy transition strategy can induce important question that has not been clearly answered. With the help of panel data from 281 cities in China during 2007–2021, this study considers China’s exemplary city policy as quasi-natural experiment conducts difference-in-differences model explore effects mechanisms on urban innovation. The results show effectively induces innovation, with mediating increasing government financial support, promoting human capital agglomeration, improving efficiency. moderating test reveals environmental regulation intellectual property protection play positive role promotion through policy. Heterogeneity analysis suggests stronger effect eastern regions non-resource-based cities. Our findings only enrich our understanding relationship between but also provide reference for policymakers

Abstract Based on the establishment of China's intellectual property (IP) courts, this article examines impact judicial protection (IPJP) corporate innovation using sample A‐shared listed firms from 2013 to 2021 by time‐varying difference‐in‐differences (DID) model. The result shows that IP courts have a significant positive effect innovation, mainly increasing factor input, including expenditure R&D funds and personnel quantity. Additionally, is stronger for invention patents in non‐state‐owned firms, small high‐tech with low financing constraints.

Many of the world’s less developed regions may not be able to improve well-being rural residents through agricultural revitalization because their remoteness from markets. In response to the escalating global climate change, countries are progressively adopting green public finance as a crucial instrument for achieving carbon neutrality. This study considers energy conservation and emission reduction (ECER) in demonstration cities’ construction natural experiment verifies effect of on total emissions (TCEs) intensity (CEI) by using difference-in-differences (DID) model with help panel data 276 Chinese cities from 2006 2019. The empirical results indicate that (1) ECER policy effectively reduces CEs cities, resulting TCEs 13.13% CEI 12.90%; (2) can optimize structure, accelerate technology innovation, improve efficiency, thus promoting “dual control” CEs; (3) CE is stronger western southern lower-administrative-level weaker financial strength, which has typical “supporting weak” effect. Promoting the synergy of pollution and carbon reduction (PCR), as well accelerating high-quality economic development (HQED), are two major tasks China’s current development. Thus, it is crucial to achieve a deep integration between PCR HQED. We first construct indicator system HQED, use entropy method assign weights system. The coupling coordination model often portrays level coordinated systems. apply this measure synergistic relationship HQED in 108 cities Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) China from 2006 2021.We further analyze its spatial-temporal characteristics, regional differences, convergence. results reveal that degree (CCD) YREB increases 0.4234 0.5832 2021. A higher CCD reflects better developmental subsystems, shifts on verge being uncoordinated barely coordinated. Meanwhile, shows trend decreasing downstream, midstream, upstream, with significant spatial positive autocorrelation characteristics. Based on the panel data of 96 countries from 2013 to 2020, this study innovatively adopts TIMG index measure global digital economy (DE) and examines impact DE carbon emissions. We find that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between emissions, energy intensity mediating channel. Heterogeneity analysis reveals lower-middle-income can enter 'carbon reduction dividend stage' faster than high-income upper-middle-income countries. Our findings provide empirical evidence policy references for effectively utilizing reduction.

Urban forest policies have garnered increasing global attention for their critical role in providing key ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, air pollution control, microclimate regulation, and biodiversity enhancement, well potential to drive green innovation sustainable urban development. This study utilized panel data from 273 Chinese cities between 2000 2022, employing a quasi-natural experiment difference-in-differences (DID) model systematically evaluate the impact of National Forest City Policy (NFCP) on innovation. The results indicate that NFCP significantly enhances innovation, with these findings remaining robust across series validation tests. Mechanism analysis revealed policy fosters by environmental attention, facilitating talent aggregation, reducing emissions. Furthermore, heterogeneity showed policy’s effects are more pronounced small- medium-sized cities, non-transportation hub economically developed regions. Based findings, this paper offers recommendations optimizing implementation different city types further promote economic broadens research perspective relationship precise decision-making guidance policymakers while also highlighting important forests play enhancing driving growth.
