Abstract Modern observations reveal that large‐scale ocean‐atmosphere circulation (OAC) is drifting toward higher latitudes under global warming. Paleoclimate proxies indicate similar OAC drifts occurred on orbital timescale as well. However, the characteristics and underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, by conducting simulations with different Earth's orbits, we investigate how changes in Earth‐Sun distance affect OAC. We find a closer (perihelion) causes poleward drift of This dynamically consistent displacement meridional temperature gradient. Precession alters perihelion season timescales, leading to seasonal amplified during hemispheric summer, reaching magnitudes 10° high eccentricity. The identified reshape seasonality precipitation over land, well ocean upwelling downwelling, ultimately affecting distribution terrestrial marine ecosystems.

Mm-scale and/or µm-scale in situ inorganic geochemical analyses of organic-rich, laminated fine-grained sediments increasingly offer decadal or even seasonal perspectives ecological environmental dynamics. Organic studies, contrast, seldom explicitly consider mm-scale variability, so that it remains unclear to what extent organic proxy-based reconstructions are a product signal-averaging higher-resolution variability. Here we assess the 2–8 variability proxies for depositional environment and source, utilising an low maturity well-laminated shale from Eocene Shahejie Formation, Dongying Depression, Bohai Bay Basin. We identify (approximately decadal-scale) compositional is comparable magnitude vertical at m-scale millennial-scale), test multiple relationships between key biomarker mineral mm-scale, likely implications palaeowater conditions, anaerobic heterotrophic microbial activity, early diagenetic dolomitization, matter preservation. Our results suggest decadal-scale oscillation carbon content result varying degrees reworking with periodic euxinia deep photic zone. In contrast previous models based on analysis bulk samples, our respiration during intervals more intense/persistent accompanied by loss. Variable low-light seems be modifier net OM content. The samples may hide important shorter temporal scales which reconstructing palaeoenvironments operation controls on, example, cycle.

Abstract In Sub-Saharan Africa, cereals are threatened by stress-inducing microbial pathogens and parasites such as fungi, bacteria, viruses nematodes leading to significant losses. Mycotoxin-producing fungi like Fusarium graminearum induce head blight disease causing 30–70% of yield losses in wheat. comparison, verticillioides accounts for ear rot diseases that account 13–70% maize Africa. Outbreaks the devastating rice blast pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae have caused up 48% Kenya. The grey leaf spot fungus, C. zeina , gradually becomes a threat production, 65% loss South Maize smut ergot-causing pathogens, Sporisorium ehrenbergii Claviceps africana under mildly humid cold climatic conditions, impact grain quality market value. streak virus predominantly ravages fields all over Africa 30–100% while bacterium Xanthomonas pv. has led 10 50% production. Nigeria, nematode Pratylenchus spp been reported cause 27% This review fundamentally discusses these cereal their current future face climate change We seriously emphasize need more simulation studies on each across potential scenarios.
