Environmental aquatic pollution with antibiotics is a global challenge that affects even pristine mountain environments. Monitoring the concentration of in water critical to resource management. In this review, we present sources and degradation routes polluting surface waters, particular focus on environments areas. This strongly related anthropopressure resulting from intensive tourism. An important aspect threat environment containing at sub-inhibitory concentrations, which bacterial populations. Antibiotics are ecological factors driving microbial evolution by changing community composition, inhibiting or promoting their functions, enriching maintaining drug resistance. We paid attention stability half-lives biotic abiotic degradation, results structures molecules environmental conditions. Wastewater treatment combined advanced techniques significantly increase efficiency antibiotic removal wastewater. Modern methods wastewater crucial reducing supply enhancing possibility economic safe reuse for technical purposes. provide perspective current research investigating emergence areas identify knowledge gaps field.

Municipal sewage sludge is the residual material produced as a waste of municipal wastewater purification. It sophisticated multi-component material, hard to handle. For many years, it has been landfilled, incinerated, and widely used in agriculture practice. When unproperly discharged, very polluting unhealthy. The rapidly increasing global amount annually depends on urbanization, degree development, lifestyle. Some diffused traditional practices were banned or became economically unfeasible unacceptable by communities. In contrast, established that MSS contains valuable resources, which can be utilized energy fertilizer. objective review was prove resource recovery beneficially affordable using modern approaches proper technologies estimate required resources time. open sources information deeply mined, critically examined, selected derive necessary regarding each network segment, from source final point, where disposed of. We found developed some developing countries are involved with ambitious costly plans for remediation, modernization regulations, collecting purification systems, beneficial management approach. also activated process leading technology purification, anaerobic digestion downstream waste. However, biological appear inadequate hydrothermal carbonization, already applicable at full scale, best candidate playing significant role managing big towns small villages.

Saline-alkali soil has become significant problem for global agriculture and food security as these soils have poor physicochemical conditions reduce crop production by causing a wide range of physiological biochemical changes in plants. More than 800 million hectares (Mha) land throughout the world affected saline-alkali soil, which accounts 6% total area about 62 Mha or 20% world's irrigated is soil. Numerous studies on been conducted years an attempt to plant productivity losses. Utilizing sewage sludge (SS) efficient way improve its physiochemical properties soil's health yield. However, in-depth mechanisms utilization sludge, their nutrient levels, toxic harmful substances such heavy metals, pathogenic microorganisms, antibiotics, resistant genes that affect yield, groundwater quality, ecological risks are still uncertain. This review enhances awareness knowledge explore sustainable mode SS growth with rhizosphere effect, micro-ecology, carbon nitrogen cycle enhancement. The potential future perspectives research limitations also discussed article.

Abstract Based on the most recently published data, we definitively estimated that annual global production of sewage sludge may rise from ~ 53 million tons dry solids currently to 160 if wastewater were be treated a similar level as in 27 European Union countries/UK. It is widely accepted agricultural application beneficial way recycle abundant organic matter and plant nutrients sludge. However, land need limited due presence metals. This work presents meticulous systematic review sources, concentrations, partitioning, speciation metals order determine impacts metal behavior soils. identifies industrial wastewater, domestic urban runoff are main sources shows conventional treatment processes generally result partitioning over 70% into primary secondary Typically, concentrations Zn > Cu Cr ≈ Pb Ni Cd. The proportion these easily mobilised highest for Ni, followed by Cd Cu, then Cr.
