Globally, more than 6 million metric tons of agricultural plastic films are used to increase crop yields and reduce the use water herbicides, resulting in contamination soil by debris additives. In this study, suspect screening with high-resolution mass spectrometry, one-dimensional Fickian diffusion models, linear free energy relationships (LFERs) were determine transfer various films. A total 89 tentatively identified 40 films, 62 them further validated quantified. The aqueous concentrations 26 released reached mg L–1 after a 28 day incubation at 25 °C. Diffusion models LFERs demonstrated that film–water partition coefficient diffusivity polymer, two critical parameters controlling transfer, could be predicted using Abraham descriptors. findings study highlighted need for future research on environmental fate risk assessment previously neglected other similar products.
